...............paraphrased 'The current board took over in 1997 there were then several possible sites for a stadium indeed Ken Bodfish
suggested Waterhall but Albions consultants considered it non viable as it was north of the A27 As a result they selected Falmer and expected everyone affected to roll over and agree.

The club put all there eggs in one basket with no contingency plan
arrogantly assuming the city council would help smooth things over. The pro Falmer body have behaved like small children in their efforts since the inspectors report to Prescott have been simialarly childish. '

He goes onto say everyone who voted yes in the referendum should donate 100 quid to the current cause.

Who did decide Falmer was the best option what consultants anyone know????

It's a fair question. Given that the area is an AONB and wasn't earmarked for this sort of development in the council's local plan it seems to me now that a public enquiry and all its costs was inevitable.

The fact that we've still failed to convince two inspectors of its merits must also raised doubts abut how good the advice was. It's still costing us and we still might be refused.

Without all this we would of course be £2.5 million (and counting) better off and presumably wouldn't be in current financial hole?

Mmm, and we indeed up playing at Withdean for next 20 years. Good one! Also, the terms of our using Withdean was that we could only stay there if planning consent was alive for a permanent home. So yes, you're absolutely right, it was totally inevitable.

Jeees
