Tiscali Broadband - Consumer advice sought

Query for those of you out there who use Tiscall

Have used them for Broadband for a few years with no problems.

Have used BT for phone for many years. once again no problems.

Called by Tiscali today offering all singing/dancing combined package including free calls and rental at a lower cost than BT (even after the 3 month introductory even lower cost period has expired).

Anyone transferred to Tiscali for their phone calls as well? Are they any good and how painless is the transfer process? Whilst I am tight wad enough to want to save around £7 per month is the hassle going to be worth it???

Over to you good people................

I wouldn't recommend Tiscali for consumer broadband! Indian tech support, poor service etc!

I transferred to them (Broadband & phone) a couple of months ago. Have had a couple if minor issues with my DD's not coming out, but other than that, it's been fine.

I pay £15 pm for both so saving me over £10 pm compared to BT

Just a note of caution if you give up your BT phone line and ever want to leave Tiscali who link you to their own network you may have to pay a reconnection fee to BT about £150 and be without broadband for 2 or 3 weeks.

That's because BT are the biggest bunch of thieving c**ting bastards on the planet :angry::angry:

Can't wait to get out of my contract period with them - I'd rather pay someone else MORE money than give the fuckers another penny. AND their Indian call centres are the worst I've ever had to deal with - thick as SHIT ! Of course I might be over reacting a little ......

I've been with Tiscali for nearly 2 years now & pay £19.99 PM for Line Rental; free L/line Calls & Broadband. Never had any hassle at all. Bargain.

I moved to their combined package about 7 months ago and haven't had any problems at all. I think luck probably does play a part in these things but I'm very happy with what we've now got.

£14.99 a month for broadband and home phone line rental is a good price. We also get free weekend calls in that price (including calls abroad). If you rarely use your home phone or can wait until the weekend its a great deal.

They also waived the £30 set up fee as we were already with them for our broadband.

The transfer process was totally painless for us but as with most things, you only really find out how good they are when something goes wrong!

I'm considering leaving Tiscali as I find their connection speeds in the evenings very poor. The connection frequently crashes and for some reason I can only get back online by rebooting the PC.

The technical support is worse than useless on these occasions. If I thought BT would be more reliable I'd swallow the £150 reconnection fee ... it will reduce my blood pressure.

Was thinking of doing just this myself as Tiscali kick butt on all the other deals around. Echo the comments above from what I've been told - customer service awful and 2 week delay in getting set-up, but cheap as chips.

I went the other way.
I was with Tiscali, but was paying through the nose, as they wouldn't update my package.

I ended up saying screw you I'm off, naturally they were beside themselves then, to little to late.

Off I went to BT and haven't had a problem since.

I had Tiscali for BB and used TalkTalk for my calls package on a BT line. Now I have switched it all over to TalkTalk and only have one bill.

I find the same problems with my tiscali set-up.

It runs extremely slow on evenings and especially on a saturday day too.

We tried to get help before about another matter with tiscali, but found that the customer service was so poor and unhelpful.

I went round in circles on one of their customer service staff, someone who would say nothing for several minutes, then mumour something without actually expaning what he wanted us to do (changing the set ups on broadband) then go quiet for ages again, No help what so ever and extremely fustrating.

Stick to BT, far better service, far more reliable and good back up too.
