Time to drop the former Dutch Marine?

At the risk of heresy I think the time has come to drop Kuipers. His kicking is quite simply not good enough for a professional goalkeeper and on Saturday he cost us a goal.

Every time the ball is played back to him, my heart is in my mouth. Our defence is shaky enough at the moment, we can't afford to have him making things worse.

Don't get me wrong - Kuipers has been brilliant for us ( and has made some truely world class saves) but a keeper needs to be more than a shot stopper.

What's going on in training? If I was John Keeley I would make Kuipers spend at least an hour every day in training just kicking.
Hardly rocket science. Maybe, he just can't do it?

We have another good keeper in Roberts and now he's back to fitness, he must be given a chance.

I'm sure McGhee will look at them both, maybe the FDM's problem with kicking is he's not keeping his eye on the ball right upto the point of contact thus slighty scewing the ball or mis-kicking it altogether.
Concentration is the key

Who the hell has been telling him to kick anyway.

Don't know how many times I say this, but Knight needs the ball to his feet, not his head. Roll the ball from the back and pass it! Hope MM gets rid of this kicking problem.

However, I feel that Roberts is a better keeper then FDM anyway. Best keep both though - Roberts is going to be another sicknote.

I think Mcghee will give Roberts a go against Boston - He cant have been impressed by what he saw on Saturday. Kuiper's wayward kick on Saturday came from the hand as well which makes it even more worrying. When you consider in Rugby to get a drop goal you have to let an Oval ball hit the ground, kick it in excess of 30 odd metres over a post with people running full pelt at you to stop you, how difficult can it be to hit a round ball staright down the pitch?

Definitely drop him, how a pro footballer who gets training literally every day cant kick the ball in a straight line is beyond me, good shot stopper yes but we lose possession almost every time he kicks it, give Roberts the gloves back

i agree his kicking is up the poo - but i feel more comfortable with him in goal than Roberts, kuipers has the presence, that roberts doesnt.

i'm sure his kicking will get better, it did before he got crocked

I certainly wouldn't have FDM spending an hour a day kicking, his thigh muscle wouldn't last the week!

As for Saturday, his kicking was poor again, but my problem was with the full backs. Why on Earth weren't Mayo and Watson dropping back to take a throw from FDM, and then we could perhaps pass to each other, even build an attack.

The second goal, FDM has to shoulder some blame, but no-one really made a very good attempt to win the ball back. hart and Watson allowed them all the time in the World to get into position and put crossess in. Then Mayo just lost his barings when the ball came in.

As I say, some blame, but no-one did much to help him out.

In a match you cannot avoid having to kick the ball from hand. On Saturday Kuipers kicked the ball like a girl, and it cost us a goal.

Drop him, he must work on this aspect or be sold. The winter weather is usually more windy, so expect kicks currently slicing out to the wings to soon be sailing straight out of play.

No offence intended, but if I gave my girlfriend a football and told her to throw it up and kick it she would do exactly what Kuipers did.

Everyone was singing his praises a few weeks ago. Cullip should take the goal kicks for him and he could stick to what he is good at

And Cullip has suddenly acquired the ability to find one of his own players with a kick has he? His distribution is and always has been pants....back to the drawing table with that idea. There are other flaws but that is probably the main one.

Kuipers is God.

I couldn't understand how anyone, especially a professional football player, could take a dropkick so badly. All you need to do is put your foot through the ball and it should go straight.

I was playing a football match in goal last night and I managed to do a Kuipers kick-miskicked it and hit it with the outside of my boot off for a throw in.

We were all relieved when the FDM was back between the sticks after a few horrifying moments from Roberts. Although his kicking is gubbins, I'd still give him the nod over Roberts at the moment, cos I think he is safer. But distribution from the back is becoming a BIG problem. Kuipers can't kick, Watto and Mayo can't pass, and DC and Butters only seem to hoof. We need someone to drop back from midfield, pick up a short pass from Watto or Mayo, or a roll-out from FDM, put his foot on the ball, turn, and pass to someone wearing the same shirt as him. Is that really so hard to do ?
