Time to drop Leon Knight

I doubt this is going to be universally popular but does anyone else think it is time for McGhee to drop Leon Knight for a bit? He hasn't looked very interested in the last couple of games.

OK, he'll miss a match or 2 because of that sending off but perhaps he's just got too comfortable and needs a kick up the backside from the boss.

I wana see McPhee up top with Benji for a game or two and knight dropping deeper 'in the hole' to give him a bit of space.

Last time Leon was missing, we won 4-0 (abeit against a very poor Wycombe side who were down to 10 men for most of the match). However, that was with Piercy in full flow, and sadly, he's one of those players with a seemingly permanent sicknote.

Leon can be frustrating, but he's still our most potent goal threat. How much of a lift would it give the opposition to know they're not facing the divisions top scorer that afternoon ? I can't see how you can leave the fella out. If he's having one of his shite days, then by all means haul him off, but we've just not got the talent within the squad to drop Leon IMHO.

He'll be out for a game anyway - is this the Stockport game?

Play Benji and McPhee up front with Robinson on the bench to come on mid way through the second half (not 3 minutes from time like last night).

When is Piercy back? We need him quickly.

I have a different take on the Swindon game.

I actually thought we played better when Leon was off the pitch in the Swindon game. The first half we played extremely well....Yes I know he scored when he came on, but I still would have kept it as it was for another 20 mins before bringing him on.

But that is all in the past and I am a useless manager anyway

Erm hang on - I do believe MCGhee has already tried this one.... anyone else here remember the Swindon game? :nono:

He realised his mistake at half-time and brought him on!

And when Taylor tried the same with Zamora, we lost 2-0 at Oldham and Bob lost his rag and got sent off when he came on as sub.

While I don't think anyone has the divine right to walk into the team, I reckon it does more harm than good when you tell someone who's obviously a class above most of his team-mates that he's starting on the bench. If someone's a big fish in a little pond, there's no point pretending he's a whelk.

If he's out of order, then you discipline him as you would anyone else, but if he's fit, eligible and willing, he has to play. Do you really want to give your opponents a lift by handing in a team sheet missing the one bloke they're frightened of? Of course not. And the "false sense of security" argument doesn't wash - if you play Lee Steele ahead of Bobby Zamora, that's not a false sense of security you're giving the opposition, it's an entirely real one.

I agree, Leon should be dropped. I've noticed over the past few weekes that he isn't working for the team and he wanders around like he doesn't want to play for us anymore. I for one, would rather have McPhee giving his all for the club, rather than some prima donna strolling around the pitch.

I even have to agree with Dave the Gaffer, we did look better at Swindon without him. Maybe the ban will be the kick up the arse he needs.

Leon seriously needs to buck his ideas up IMHO

Rant over:angry:

Exactly.Stupid suggestion.

Our next top scorer as 4 league goals.Without Leon we'd be langushing near the relegation zone.
