This thread reminds me again that my post count is tiny given that I've been on NSC for years and years.

Indeed you have. Mostly taunting Orient fans, it would seem.

Removing the post count has been mentioned before to remedy those who just post, and post and post again without actually saying anything.

It's not something that can be done quickly ie there is no option to just turn it off - that's not to say it couldn't be done, and pretty soon, if people prefer.

Another option is to make the time required between posts longer than it is currently. It is set to 60 seconds right now. Hopefully, people will consider whether they are actually adding anything constructive if they have to wait longer to post again.

i have been at work and thought id get home, flick on nsc and see todays albion news.

i'm not one of these types that wants a different forum for each topic or like twickers, thinking it should just be albion news on the board. This is a community and people should be able to discuss whatever they like.

But... :censored: :censored: :censored: FOR FUCKS SAKE PEOPLE, CUT OUT THE USELESS THREADS WITH NO MEANING OR PURPOSE JUST TO GET AN EXTRA POST ON YOUR COUNTER.

It is getting f***ing ridiculous.

I admit in times of boredom I post my fair share of crap, but, after a day at work I come home and check for the latest news on NSC (I have given up on the official site)

There used to be loads of threads worth reading.

Today I read about 3.

Right - name and shame time - please post the names of the worst 'posting for no reason at all' people on the board.

If you are named, it is your duty to stop and think EVERY time you are making a post because, the chances are, that with every post you make you are pissing some people off and making NSC a worse place.

If your behaviour carries on, action of some form will be taken to stem the flow.

The post count does seem a little pointless. It doesn't bother me how many times or how few times I post. I don't consciously look to see how many times others do either.

But this race to the first 100, 1000, etc. is becoming silly, somebody posted a full stop today - nothing else- just to click another post.

It makes threads too tedious when you have to wade through the drivel, usually posted by idiots like Dwayne, to reach the interesting or funny comments.

Why don't we have a poll to see what other people think?

On NSC for over two decades...
I find this whole post count conversation a little odd. Yes the whole bragging about reaching such-and-such a landmark is getting a little tedious, however I suspect this is mainly among the younger users of the board. Personally I do like to keep an eye on how many posts I've been making, chiefly as a barometer of how much I've been hanging around here during the months of my unemployment. Ultimately I think that the majority of users are fairly ambivalent as to the features existence, or indeed to anyone writing about reaching 135 posts or whatever, they usually start a thread for that purpose anyway - which I'll mostly ignore.
