First, I am very much in favour of Steve Coppell staying as Albion boss. He's done a top job.
But surely now it is time to break his silence one way or another. We went into the weekend unsure about what was happening.
Monday meant a delay because of the stress test (but there are phones, even up north). Tuesday was a clear day. So surely something should happen now, even if it's only to confirm talks with Reading are ongoing.
If they have already snagged him, and we are just sorting out compensation, then Dick Knight should come out and say so.
I suppose the danger is that if an announcement is made that he's off and then terms fall through, he will have lost a lot of the goodwill of Albion fans. But then we all know if the package was right he'd go anyway - who could blame him. I reckon the continuing delay is doing his reputation more harm than just telling us what's going on.
