I went midweek a few months ago. Queues not too bad especially early in the morning and they have some very good rollercoasters. It's more adult than Chessington so is prone to groups of thuggish teenagers trying to look menacing.

Ben lives in Guildford so bought an annual pass and goes there quite often and he said that you are spot on with that view of 'I come from London and Im hard' teenagers

Queue up for the front row of stealth if he can go on it. I wouldn't usually bother but it was much shorter than usual. After going on it 3 times before, it's a completely different animal when you're at the front!

You did better than me, I didn't even consider going in the maze! Having read what happens in each room before hand I knew it would end in tears if I even attempted it.

I am gutted I didn't get to try the Saw rollercoaster though :(

GOSBTS
Lots of School trips go this time of year, just before the Holidays begin.
Also, now that Year 11's have finished their GCSE's there is bound to be some of these groups there. (Pretending to be hard) etc…
Go early, large groups get in 11-12 ish, and buy tickets in advance.
Pick rides in order of preference, stick to it, and go on them in that order to avoid disappointment.
:clap2:

Save your pennies and go to Florida. As a member of the Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain not even I can stand to go back to Britain's overly busy, under-themed-parks, having experienced the sheer joy of the Disney and Universal parks. (NOT, however, the awful Busch/Six Flags fairgroundesque experiences).

I used to go to all the British and European theme parks regularly (Alton Towers, Drayton Manor, Thorpe Park, Chessington (which is now a joke), Port Aventura, etc etc) but the lack of theming and lack of imagineering in our lacklustre dark rides makes the whole trip pointless. Then there is the thug element of yobs which all our parks have - in America these are limited to certain parks which all the trailer trash go to (mainly the Busch/Six Flags parks - they can't afford to go to Disney and would be kicked out for their spitting and line-jumping shenanigans).

They make Spiderman - The Ride, we have 'Willy Wonka - The Ride' which is an offensive to both Willy Wonka and the term 'ride'.

That's not to even mention the standard of the shows and experiences (Philharmagic, Phantasmic, Finding Nemo: The Musical) which are worth the ticket price alone.

Not been to Florida but been to the largest fair in europe on the banks of the Rhine in Dusseldorf and several of the guys that were with us said it just outstrips anything in Disneyland etc, can't comment but it certainly pissed all over anythng the UK has to offer.

What are the best rides, I am there in October

How long are you going for?

My advice would be to swerve Busch Gardens/Seaworld, here are reasons why;

*The animals are treated in absolutely shocking conditions, tiny enclosures, all look very under nourished and poorly kept. (Seaworld is also terrible for this, forcing the animals to perform - to the point that a dolphin trainer was killed a few months ago.)

**The rides are unspectacular and on two visits are far more unreliable than any other parks I've been to. The 'showpiece' ride at Busch Gardens is 'Shei-kra' a vertical drop coaster which manages to be even worse than 'Oblivion'

***The people are hurrendous. Because Seaworld/Busch Gardens is basically half the price of Disney/Universal, you have all the school groups, trailer trash and scummy teenagers and families all called 'Brandine'. Ugh. People were constantly line jumping, tried telling staff and nobody cared. Bins overflowing, and the same bloody Pirates 4D ride as Thorpe Park!!!

If going for 7 days;

1 day Magic Kingdom (This park is mainly for little kids, quietest on either Monday/Tuesday) (Must do (in order of importance); Philharmagic, Space Mountain, It's a Small World, Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain - though you might not get on all of these as queues can be outrageous at this park)

1 day Epcot (either Saturday/Sunday) (Soarin', Test Track, Spaceship Earth, Mission: Space - catch the 'Imaginations' fireworks show over the fakelake)

1 day Animal Kingdom (any day) (Finding Nemo: The Musical (its incredible) Expedition Everest, Dinosaur, Kali River Rapids, Kilimanjaro Safaris)

1 day MGM Studios (any day - if you want to ride 'Toy Story Mania - the same as the Wii game, it's shit. Get a fastpass very early - they close the queue line when it reaches FIVE HOURS.) (Tower of Terror, Rock n Roller Coaster, Phantasmic (evening show), Muppet-Vision 3D, Indiana Jones Stunt Show, The Great Movie Ride)

1 day Universal Studios (Hollywood Rip, Ride Rockit (new), T2:3D - incredible. The Simpsons Ride, The Mummy, Shrek 4D, Jaws, Men in Black)

1 day Islands of Adventure (Spiderman (probably THE best ride in Florida, Hulk, Ripsaw Falls, Bilge Rat Barges, Jurassic Park)

Finally, don't know if you're aware or not, but The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has just opened at Islands of Adventure, it contains the re-themed Duelling Dragons ride, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey (inside Hogwarts Castle facade), and two kids attractions. The theming looks stunning, but not going until next May sadly!

Also, in October the Universal parks have their usual 'Halloween Horror Nights' which are a MUST. Absolutely bloody terrifying but pricey. Think Passage del Terror, but with Freddie Krueger and other film scaries chasing you through corn field sets with a (real) chainsaw). Very expensive though - around another $100.00 for the family on top of your ticket price. Worth every cent.

FINALLY, you *need* this;

Brit Guide to Orlando 2010 (Brit Guides): Amazon.co.uk: Simon Veness, Susan Veness: Books

THE best book for Brits travelling to Orlando. Brilliant - you'll never need anything else.

Oh, and eat at Pondarossa and avoid Golden Corral, my girlfriend got food poisoning and was in bed for three days.
