I wouldn't have a problem with them if they were used for South African games or any other nation with that culture, but having them for *every* game is tiresome and they just drown out all the singing. I've had enough of them now.

The first round of matches are usually crap as no-one wants to lose. It'll get better

Tends to be a rule, but then again is it always so?

I seem to remember Germany 2006 getting off to a cracking start - goals and excitment right through the group games, starting with that fantastic goal from Phillip Lahm in the opening game.

This is the worst start to a world cup I can remember. Poor all round play and very little ambition from most teams. Only highlight so far for me has been the Germans.

I was out all day yesterday so I cannot comment on the Dutch or Italy games but for me so far so good. I enjoyed the opening game, it had some great moments and some nice football at times. I enjoyed the Argentina Nigeria game....Argentina were great going forward and the Nigeria 'keeper was fantastic and equal to most of the attempts the Argies made and Messi looked in sparkling form. For me it was a great game. And the Germans were excellent.

The tournament will get better and no doubt there will be some excellent matches and duels along the way.
