Now i dont profess to knowing much about F1 but this whole saga it seems reaches much further than that.

They were saying on SSN this morning that it could have implications for QPR as he is now classed as a 'not fit & proper person'

where does this leave QPR if he can no longer have any involvement with them ??

Don't think it will be a problem, he will just have a stooge who will sit in for him whilst he still makes the decisions.

QPR will have nothing to worry about. They have 2 other billionaires, they will be fine.

This just gets weirder. The Times today:

Flavio Briatore is reported to be considering legal action against the FIA and may set up a series to rival Formula One. Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport said he was planning to sue the sport's governing body in the Paris courts to try to prove his innocence and win compensation for the damage to his image. I am distraught," the 59-year-old told the newspaper.

Briatore left Renault last week along with Pat Symonds, the former director of engineering, who was banned for five years yesterday. Renault did not contest the accusations and were given a suspended ban that will last until the end of the 2011 season.

The italian will no longer retain a role in the management of the GP2 Series, the Formula One feeder championship, and will not be able to continue managing racing drivers, among them four on the present Formula One grid - Fernando Alonso, Mark Webber, Heikki Kovalainen and Romain Grosjean.

Carlos Gracia, head of the Spanish motor sport federation and a member of the FIA's world motor sport council, said Briatore's life ban was "excessive" and said he expected the Italian to mount a compensation claim.

"Briatore's [penalty] seems to me excessive, there was no clear proof against him and he was not able to defend himself either," he said. uhhh...he CHOSE not to defend himself... "I wouldn't rule out him going to ordinary justice because he has been left without his means of earning a living."

"Personally, I insist that Briatore's penalty seems disproportionate, while I think that a big mistake has been made with Piquet, creating a dangerous precedent," he added.

"Max Mosley has labelled the scandal as a criminal act, so I don't understand how the executor can be reprieved. He is as responsible for the scandal as the rest, and if he's not ready to handle situations with pressure, then maybe he chose the wrong job."
How exactly is Max Mosely responsible for this ? Who was it who told Piquet to crash again ??

This spanish bloke is as nuts as Briatore.

The FA (FL) rules are that if someone is banned by a sports governing body (any sport) then they cannot be majority shareholder or director or a football league club.

And another thing, what if Piquet had died in that crash? let's face it, there isn't a manual on how to crash a 200mph racing car without injuring yourself. What happened could have been tantamount to manslaughter, you could almost call it attempted manslaughter anyway. The people responsible should be jailed, let alone banned from sport.

kinda late to be proclaiming innocence after leaving the team and not contesting the charges.

Indeed.
His lawyer will have to perform a few twists and backflips to try to drum up a convincing case from this shambles. And he's planning to sue the FIA to clear his name ?? Surely if he is trying to prove his "innocence", then its Piquet Jnr who he should be suing, ie the guy who made the all allegations in a sworn statement, not the body who banned him for the offence (after he didn't contest it !).

I think he's lost the plot a wee bit.

It's funny how Piquet Jnr. wants to ressurect his F1 career with another team but conceeding he'd be starting from zero. If Flav hadn't sacked him for being shit, Nelson wouldn't have owned up to the crash. What an absolute disgrace!!!
