Anyone playing in non league football would bite thier right arm off to play for a league one club. We should have players who WANT to play for this club, and this prick with what appears an inflated ego has stalled on an opportunity to progress in his career for what appears to be money related.
f*** him off and bring in someone who wants to play for this club. Too many have been and gone who have taken us for a ride, huge egos and wank on the pitch.
Big gamble on an average(okay hes a bit better than that) non-league striker with a bit of pace, especially when we could spend the money on a player who has league football experience and would aid us in moving out of the shit end of this league.

rant over.

Cambridge would appear to pay quite well, according to some of their own fans.

We do not know the ins and outs of what is offered or indeed clauses and so on, so wouldn't it be wise to avoid calling a (potential) future Brighton player a 'prick' when we know very little of what is going on.

Maybe the deal offered is not that appealing and rather than relocating now, he can see out his contract at Cambridge and then make a decision at the end of the season.

We should pay center a basic wage of say £20K a year (more than most people earn) and then after that a fee for every goal they score, similar to what Sussex paid Mushy for every wicket. Then the player and his agent has to put his goal scoring boots where his mouth is.

Mushy, primarily, was on a basic wage of £50k for four months (and £500 a wicket). £20k? :lolol:

Hang on. How can you comment when you don't know the offer.
If we are offering a piss poor salary, he has every right to kick off.
You can't blame the lad for trying to get a bit more money, it's his job, he is trying to get the best salary he can.

It's amazing the number of people who must know the ins and outs of the contract negotiations here. I assume they do seeing as he's a "prick" amongst other things

Another case of someone believing contract negotiations are the same as portrayed in "Football Manager 2010" - make a bid & it's sorted within a day

Some years ago I took a 20 year old full back to Brighton who wanted to sign him but the wage that they offered was less than he was getting for painting Woolworths shop fronts plus he was being paid £60 per game for a non lague club. He was newly married witha child and couldnt afford to go full time. If as people have suggested this Holdroyd is on £1200 per week at Cambridge plus he possibly has another job he could be in the similar situation. Clive Walker told me he was paid more playing for Woking than he evr received from BHA. I know these are all some time ago but has the situation changed drastically now, we dont know one way or the other.

Couldn't agree more, it's not greed it's about making a living, fame (such as that is at this level) does not pay bills.

Classic BensGrandad. It's got it all, from z-list ex Albion name dropping to the story so clearly full of bullshit. You seriously want us to believe Walker was earning more with non league Woking than he did at Premiership chasing Albion?

Stick to telling us stories of how you told Pat Saward to sign Roy Keane/Dean Saunders/f***ing PELE and how he ignored you.

Strange but true, I'm afraid. When most - if not all - Conference sides were all part-timers this was a common thing. Woking also used to have a prolific striker by the name of Tim Buzaglo. After he scored a hat-trick for them at West Brom in an FA Cup game he had teams from the bottom 2 divisions of the league queuing up to offer him a chance in a league club but he went nowhere. The reason - although he wasn't earning much from Woking he also had a job (in IT if I recall correctly) and the 2 jobs together paid so well that he would have had to go to a club in the top 2 divisions to even match what he was on.

Not quite true. Shortly after his moment of glory he suffered serious injury & barely played again. I thought he was a stockbroker, but even if he was in IT he would still be earning decent cash

Actually I can believe that, I remember Trevor Senior being on £500 per week at Weymouth a few years ago, they were Beazer Homes South at the time.

From his point of view, he probably gets one decent crak at this, it would be wise to get teh best deal you can. But he has to know when it is enough and then grab the chance and try to make a name for himself.

Thing is if he also has a loacly based job that offers him a long term career what is the great attraction of a struggling League One team ?
