when i was 16, i went to st andrews and registered as a lottery ticket seller for birmingham city, they gave me a tenners worth of tickets to start of with, i sold the lot in a day and with their tenner in my pocket, went to villa park and booked a coach and match ticket to watch villa play swansea at the old vetch field, its nice when the team up the road pays for you to watch the team down the road play away from home,:laugh:

When I was about 11 or 12 myself and Terry Tribe (well known Worthing character) bunked off of school and went to The Den to see a cup replay. We had no money so we jumped the train then when we got to the ground we stood their crying cos I lost the money and some chap paid for us to go in.

Everything you do is for the love of your team.

Spending £40 on a new shirt every season (home and away, just alternates!), spending £24 to go see them at home, other merchandise and whatnot... it all adds up. And then you've got the away trips.

for the Millenium stadium play off I got my ex-missus to buy my ticket as she lives in Brighton and I was in the midlands.........had to pay face value for the ticket plus a reward "in kind" when I went to pick it up. Not at all an unpleasant duty but....... :wrong:

When was that, then, Andy? There were times when your city rivals didn't have enough support to buy £10 wiorth of tickets....I remember going to St Andrews in the late 80s when the crowd was sub-5,000. So empty I parked more or less right outside the ground.

I travel 2 hours on a bus to get to withdean for every home game :US:

Good effort mate. 729 will drop you at Falmer at least!

At Stockport the other day I had an encounter with a stone wall shortly before ko that saw me spend most of the 1st half in an Ambulance coming round. Against parademic advice I discharged myself to catch the 2nd half, then spent most of the Thursday at St Thomas's A+E and Friday in bed. Still made it to the Millwall game on the Saturday. Daft.
