If I stood outside right now with the Worlds Most Powerful Drill, and I set it off and it drilled it's way right the way through the entire EARTH and emerged on the other side (in Australia or China or wherever), and then I jumped in the hole. Assuming I am invincible, would I emerge feet-first on the other side ? In which case, wouldn't everything then be upside-down to me ?

I dunno, I can't get my head round it.

Sorry, yes I meant I'd jumped in feet-first.

And no, I wouldn't melt because I am invincible (for the purposes of this experiment).

Gravity would pull me to the centre of the Earth, but if I could somehow keep going with my special powers (for the purposes of this experiment), I don't know what way up I'd be when I got to the other side, or what way round the World would be.

I can't get my head round it.

You'd melt half way through...

He's assuming he's invincible.

I reckon there would be a vortex in the middle like a spin dryer that would spin you the right way up to emerge head first in the Antipodes.

Of course you'd emerge feet first, and yes everything would be upside down..

But that wouldn't be a problem as you could simply turn yourself around and stand up on your feet.

(I now have an orange with a hole in it, a sticky drill and a broken Subbuteo player)

In that case I'd say you'd come out feet first. There's no magical force that is going to turn you around, but you will start to feel like you're upside down after passing the center of the earth. You'd probably get a head rush as all the blood goes to your head.

If Easy is saying he isn't affected by gravity he will keep on flying all the way into space. But his feet will still be going first.

Surely gravity isn't relevant if you ignore drag. The attraction would accelerate the body until Easy passed the middle of the earth when it would start slowing him down. So when he reaches Australia he would be moving at the same speed as when he jumped in. So assuming he stepped in to the hole he should stop just as his feet emerge from the hole, at which point he would fall back to the centre of the earth head-first unless someone is there to catch him.

With allowance for drag he wouldn't reach enough speed to get all the way through and would bob backwards and forward until resting in the middle at which point there isn't an up or down!

You would stop 1/2 way through, since that is the centre of gravaty.
