I think the film industry is in dire straits with the amount of remakes and films made from tv series'. This however.............BRILLIANT!!!! !!!!!!

"Gov, Gov Gov"

There should get Gene Hunt to do a cameo.

It will be a remake then, because there was an original film made in the 70s.

I love some of the old 70s "film of the series" they seemed to routinely knock out and release in the cinemas.

My particularly favourite - the Dad's Army Film.

The Dad's Army one was quite good. More weirdly, there was not just one On the Buses film but three of them.

I remember The Sweeney film - that wasn't bad either

A remake might work - as long as the Dennis Waterman part doesn't go to Danny Dyer

Jack Regan’s first ever line in the Sweeney, or more correctly the pilot show made prior to the Sweeney being made that was simply title “Regan”. Was…….

The Sweeney seemed groundbreaking at the time, it's dated really badly though. Be interesting to see if the remake is any good, my gut feeling is that it will be shite.

it'll be shit

This.

Remakes might be technically good but never have the soul of the original. The Sweeney was of its time which makes watching it now even more interesting. What will the new version be, either a modern updated version, or their own skewed view of what the 70s were about. Both will fail to capture, as all remakes generally fail to do, the essence of the original.

Often watch Sweeney,Minder and Professionals on ITV 3 OR 4,when there is nothing better to do.Still good!
IMHO,remakes hardly ever work...look at the dire Minder that was on recently with the fellow who played Alfie in Eastenders, can't remember his name.Crap.

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
Terrible idea. Just watch the original and enjoy. It shows up Ashes to Ashes (or whatever it was called) for the derivative crap it was.
