when I took my nephew there last year, i read that the king alfred was a registered ship during the war i.e. it was given a full HMS name and everything. Anyone know if this is true or was the chlorine getting to me?

As far as I am aware, that leisure centre never ONCE set sail from Hove seafront.

For those of you wishing to wallow in nostalgia (or water), after 2pm it's £10 to get into Butlins at Bognor, £6 for juniors and IMHO it is far superior to the old King Alfred. Plus you can go on all the rides - if you like that sort of thing. A bargain that beats some clapped out old Rover.
