Why is Lisicki playing so badly against the porker? She should be playing drop shot after drop shot and watch the Frenchwoman struggle.

Bartoli's run through has been so comfortable, it will be a massive shame if Lisicki can't have a word with herself and come back.

Bartoli 6-1 Lisicki, first set.

Think there's going to be tears soon. Poor kid looks about to crack completely.

This is a terrible final. Doing no favours for the image of the womens game.

I don't think so. You want shock after shock - you get someone like Bartoli sneak through without ever having to play anyone ranked above 17th. Lisicki has played top players constantly and she is, clearly, emotionally and probably physically, done. Massive shame, but she has been a massive credit to get here.

Poor Lisicki. Seems a genuinely lovely girl and has worked so hard to get here. A brilliant story, bit she's fallen short against, in my opinion, the least deserving Wimbledon winner ever. Potentially.

She may lose, but there's a reason Bartoli gets a gentle clap and Lisicki gets applauded.

Hello, Bartoli showing some nerves now. Lisiksi breaks back to 3-5 in the second. Still needs at least another break though.

Give it a rest. Are you Lisicki's boyfriend or something?*

*You wish :lolol:

Bartoli is a poor winner. She had an incredibly comfortable run through, she lacks grace and class and it's a big shame to see her win a major event. Grrr.

You can only beat what is put in front of you. She did that in every match, therefore wins the pot. It wasn't a great advert for womens tennis though and I would hope those who campaigned for equal pay will be suitably embarrassed tonight.

Unfortunately Sabine Lisicki was overcome by the occasion. They always say 'play the match, not the occasion'. Marion Bartoli did that whereas Lisicki was overwhelmed until the match was out of her control. If Lisicki held her very first service game having broken Bartoli in the first game, then we could have had a very different match. I think the combination of not being used to being in a final and also being the clear favourite, whereas she had pretty much been underdog in every round she'd played took their toll. Fair play to Bartoli though. Regardless of your run, to go the entire tournament without dropping a set is impressive going, she can only beat what is put in front of her.

Lisicki will be back though. Her game on grass will make her a leading contender at Wimbledon for the next 5 years and remembering how humiliated she felt at what happened today will help her be much stronger the next time she makes it to a major final.
