Sad to see all these withdrawals. I don't know whether it helps Murray or just heaps more pressure and expectation on him. He's got broad shoulders though.

Is Wimbledon too close to the French Open?

Probably yes, when you consider that there is 4 months between the Australian Open and the French Open, but only a fortnight between the French Open and Wimbledon. I think that from next year or the year after, there will be an extra week between the end of the French Open and Wimbledon starting. That should mean that most of the players get to play one warm-up tournament on grass beforehand, which the likes of Djokovic and Nadal did not do this year.

Still British then. Murray wins 6-3 6-3 7-5

* and before any Scots take offence, that is tongue-in-cheek

Things seem to be rolling Murray's way. As well as the withdrawals, he has avoided a potential banana skin in the next round against a specialist grass court player Nicolas Mahut who beat Murray at Queen's last year as Mahut lost in straight sets to Tommy Robredo, who is normally more adept on clay.

Loving this Dustin Brown on at the moment. Giving Hewitt a lesson in tennis, with some flair shots. And shutting up the loud mouthed Aussies in the crowd

Watched some of the final set. Dustin looked very chilled out, man. :smokin:

Hopefully Federer is worn out by the semi-final. He's in quite a match against Stakhovsky. 2-1 down with two sets decided by a tie-break. Not what you want in the first week of a Grand Slam when you're into your thirties...

All women players should be gagged before going on court.

Poor sods who paid to watch the Sharapova v De Brito match earlier.

Like two cats having it off in a back alley.

Was just about to post the same. It is a joke, there really is no need for it all all.

Can't believe no-one's mentioned how hot Stakhovsky's missus is?!

Should have been in the pub I was in for the tie break! Hooting galore.

What a win for Stakhovsky, what a day!

Beware Benoit Paire... I think he could play Murray in the semi, but might be the quater. Dangerous player and he, like all the others, will be MASSIVELY energised by today. Incredible scenes.

The top 4s dominance has well and truly slipped

Jerzy Janowicz is another player who could make a run to the semi-finals now after today's carnage. He's a big serving Pole and his game should be ideally suited to the conditions, judging by some of the results so far.

I can see Dustin Johnson becoming the cult hero. He looks like Bob Marley/ex-defender Peter Smith.

Ganja all round if he wins Wimbledon.
