One of the girls told Channel 4 News on Thursday night they were tricked into carrying drugs to London.

Speaking by telephone from prison in Accra, she said: "There were basically two boys over here who gave us two bags and told us... it was an empty bag

"We never thought anything bad was inside... and they told us to go to the UK and drop it off to some boy... at the airport."

"It was basically like a set-up. They didn't tell us nothing, we didn't think nothing, 'cos basically we are innocent.

"We don't know nothing about this drugs and stuff."

Someone gives you an "empty" bag to take on a flight to London. Either they're completely stupid or they knew what they were doing and are stupid to think they'd get away with it. :thud:

If they really are innocent as they claim (as if), then they still need locking up for their own saftey for being so f***ing stupid

As an accountant I wonder what will have cost more - the actual costs about to be incurred of getting them legal advice, justice, extradition, prison comforts etc or the 10 years of benefits and tax credits they would have claimed back home?

There was some bloke from the British Consul on the news last night saying the girls had been manipulated and were the VICTIMS in this.

Errrr, no. They were stupid enough to take two laptop cases stuffed with £300k worth of drugs and attempt to smuggle it through an airport, no doubt on a promise of a nice little earner for themselves at the other end. Fick SLAGS.

The inmates of the Accra slammer must think its Christmas, "slopping out" with the sort of young flesh that Gary Glitter could only dream about.

Their names have now been released: Police identified the two as Yasemin Vatansever, the London-born daughter of immigrants from Cyprus, and Yatunde Diya, also a British citizen of Nigerian descent, said Mark Ewuntomah, a spokesman for the Ghana Narcotics Control Board (Nacob).

Pictures are still awaited.

from reading that report i don't believe a word the girls say! it even says their own parents thought they were on a school trip and didnt even realise they were in africa! why would the girls make up they were going on a school trip and then go to ghana unless there was something dodgey going on?

Not as thick as they are making out. They know what's happened, they've been caught, and they are playing the "poor stupid us" card. Tough shit. Enjoy 10 years in a Ghanaian jail. Let's hope their ability to contribute to the gene pool is well and truly f***ed by the time they get out.

How much must £300,000 of cocaine weigh? It must be a fair few kg. And they thought the bags were empty? Understandable really. Those empty laptop bags can weigh a ton.

£300k is what the papers say "street value"

= 6 kilos at 50 quid per gram. So its not worth that really, maybe a 60-90 grand deal max

So 3k each in a laptop bag = about the right weight
