Some very bad parking jobs in Hurst have blocked access to the two main recreation grounds. Oh dear.

I went to saltdean oval event yesterday as my son plays for saltdean utd under 9 team and they had some stalls there, didn't see any gippos trying to spoil the fun but Liam Bridcutt came along, top bloke had photos taken with boys and signed autographs. I am not a saltdean resident but well done to all for stopping the pikeys turning up as this is also the boys home football pitch. by the way this is my first post so hi to all fellow Albion fans.

Every council is legally obliged to find travellers permanent sites, and every council administration in Brighton over the past 20 years seeking to find a permanent site has identified Horsdean as the most appropriate.

The fact that the travellers, by their very nature, don't want one, and have allegedly taken to wrecking the one they've been supplied is another matter.

Nothing allegedly about it...they have just shown on south east today the brighton site that they trashed!

And they've also reported that Brighton & Hove City Council are being particularly quick about evicting travellers from unauthorised sites at the moment.

That could, of course, also explain why so many fresh traveller incursions are happening at the moment. The more they are moved on, the more they move in.

But surely if you cut off a lock and go in... it's breaking and entering which is a crimminal offence

(1) There is no criminal offence of "breaking and entering" in this country.

(2) If you have a field containing fifty caravans, each with five or six family members in, how do you work out which one broke the lock? Do you arrest them all?

Yes, yes you do...and then you taser them.

Last year they were filmed grinding the lock off the park in Burgess Hill and the Police who attended not only ignored this they then made sure all our travelling friends entered the park safely.

The most galling thing was they got there before the first caravan got on and when confronted by a few of us (the Police that is) they told us they weren't there to stop the scum they were there to stop us from breaking the law.

Wrong on so many levels.

That's their job. And it seems like it worked.

Curious attitude that, the other day you got all stroppy about the Police actually seeing people break the law and doing something about it and now you seem to be happy to have the Police not see people breaking the law, but assume they may and do something about it.

Or is it just a snipe?
