Has a Premier League team gone bust before? I know teams which have dropped out have but I'm struggling to think of any who have done so while still in the PL. Were Leeds still in it when they went under?

If Everton were to go into administration in the next couple of weeks, presumably that would come with another points deduction for this season?
Isn't it a 10 point deduction for going into administration.

Way out West
Surely the existing owners can just set up a new company, called say, 'Everton II' within the Everton Football Club structure, and sell the stadium, training ground or groundsman's hut to that new company for £50m
Yes - but they need CASH. That sort of intra-group transaction is fine for FFP, but doesn’t generate any extra cash for the group.

Interesting that Leicester "who need to sell" have already committed to spend.
But not remotely surprising. Foot ball may be the game, but football finances is a game too albeit one with a 'Wild West' mentality.

Possibly a deal in place already to sell one of their main assets before 30th June?

Signing Dewsbury Hall would be a fantastic piece of business. Since our interest became apparent I have made a point of watching him and he looks exactly what we need imo. What chance of us not being gazumped though if Leicester do have to sell. We are not as attractive as a proposition to players now as we were pre January either imo.

He’ll probably go to Bournemouth

He’s made it clear he wants to stay at Leicester … hometown club, boyhood fan etc etc etc

This is an interesting article from their local rag which suggests they MAY have to sell regardless of what KDH would like. They also have what could be a similar to RDZ problem/situation (you choose your own interpretation) with their manager, who Sevilla (where he was a player) seem keen on. Seems to have more substance, given it’s from a local source, than ITK Internet bollocks.

Come PL and EFL make it a draconian fine and/or double points reduction in the PL and if they drop back to the Championship, you know it makes sense

Presumably they could buy him at 17m then sell straight away at a profit if his market value is high enough?

Interesting read - you can see exactly how RDZ and Enzo Maresca are friends!!

Not the PL, but top flight football was invented long before Sky! Leeds City were in the old first division when they were kicked out (for financial shenanigans). Those nice chaps at Arsenal (just above half way in division 2) were invited to take their place, and gratefully accepted. This is how they have managed to be in the first division/PL without ever having to go through the inconvenience of earning promotion.
So grateful they were that after a few years, for the sake of decency, they gave the Leeds City manager whose actions had enabled them to waltz into the first division a job. As their manager.
Shysters, the lot of 'em!
