Will start sussing out good pubs and food takeaways for you all!!!!

We'll get a good welcome locally ... I am sure

Already checked out Easyjet flights out of Brizz. £1.49 to get there, can't get quotes for return as Easyjet not pricing beyond 30/10 currently, and a Saturday night in Newcastle is a must...

Definitely recommend it over a Saturday night knife fight in Sunderland ....

Warning to all attending the Sunderland match: don't go anywhere near Hendon or the East End of the city ... been about four murders and a number of other serious assaults in past six months. In the last attack a BBC reporter Russ Ward was put into intensive care by a drugged up nutter

You can get the Metro from the airport into Newcastle and then change at the Central Station to get one into Sunderland. You get off at either the Stadium of Light or at St Peters ... both easy walk to the ground.

See link: http://www.tyneandwearmetro.co.uk/metro.htm

If anyone needs any local help, please feel free to post or PM me

Expect an Alba outing en masse.

Will look forward to a few blue stripes and kilts on the Wearmouth Bridge!!!!

I post occasionally on the Sunderland Ready to Go website and a few Mackem mates, so will test the water with them nearer the time of the match.

It's the first fixture I looked out for. My mum lives about 10 miles away and it's a great excuse to go up to see her.

I've never been to the SOL either. Looking forward to it immensely.

Tis a brilliant stadium and the mackems create a great atmosphere ... unfortunately their crowds have dropped off since relegation and on the few games I went to last season it was a shame to see only 25,000 in a stadium that can hold 49,000.

Where does your mum live Gwylan? I live about 8 miles from Sunderland!

Advice for Sunderland away... I went last year to watch the Royals up there in action, which was a televised game on a Saturday. Travelled from Bournemouth to Sunderland (left at 6am!) to watch us play the most shite performance I've ever seen, with us collecting an almighty 2 shots on goal in the entire game. Lost 2-0.

But.... we went to the Formula 1 hotel in Newcastle, about 10 miles from Sunderland and only 2 miles from Newcastle City Centre, which was £6.66 a night for basic accommodation, and went out on the town with all the rest of the travelling Royals. Superb place and cheap as anything. Well worth you all doing if you get the chance:

Just go to Newcastle and book away! :clap2:

I was thinking of flying up on the Friday and coming back Saturday night.

Flights from Gatwick to Newcastle on BA, £63 return. This involves going up on the Friday as the Saturday flight arrives at 15:05 :jester:

Flight leaves from Newcastle at 19:20, will this be enough time to get back to the airport.

Haven't yet checked out hotel prices.

Booked on the early flight from Stansted, arriving at 9.20 in Newcastle. Plenty of time for breakfast before a few bevies, moving on down to Sunderland in leisurely fashion on the Metro.

Travelling away by plane is the only way to go!

And all for £36 return incl taxes...marvellous.:lolol:
