IF you read my post you will see it challenges The Insider's statement about how the club would loose money EVEN if the ground was sold out week after week. Quite clearly, due to the shite football, this is not the case.

I think the Insider is correct.....a million loss on gates of say 6500 ( june 2005 accounts)...the extra revenue less costs to capacity wont be a million ...so club loses money regardless of whether Withdean is sold out

Which figure is 'hilarious?'
The 8,850 average. It's a potential, but we're not getting it. So how can you say that's what the ticket revenue is?

The 36 players average £769 a week.

The £20,000 cost of staging a game. Insider said we don't break even at each ground. So 5,500 people paying your average of £15 is over £80,000.

The implication that we don't have any other expenditure - including the cost of (yes, yawn if you must) the Falmer inquiry.

If everyone brought a programme for £3 and had burger and chips, that would raise the revenue
Not much.

Not every programme sells out, so the cost of designing and printing the programmes must be offset against the revenues raised.

Regards the burgers, that come in as a revenue stream under 'catering'. In other words, the burger van people pay the club (or it may even be the council) the same amount each game for their pitch, and what they sell goes to the caterers.

Now, 23 games with a 8850 capacity at £15 average ticket price is a turnover of £3,053,250.

Say we have a squad of 36 on average of £40,000 per year the players wage bill comes to £1,440,000. Add 20 other staff at £30,000 per year we get £600,000.

It costs £20k to stage a game at Withdean. 23 games comes in at £460,000.

This still leaves £553,000 left over per year and totally ignores any other revenue streams. Some, like transfer fees, are very significant sums.

Further more, I feel I have probably greatly over estimated the average player salary. Given the vast majority of our squad are young and inexperienced I would have grave concerns if the average was anywhere near 50k per player.

I appreciate the simplistic nature of my maths, but I really do struggle to see how the club claim that theu would still be losing money hand over fist even if the ground was sold out week after week.

Dick Knight, please explain where the money is going. This is not a criticism, it is a request for clarification.

I would put this on the 'Ask the club' board but fear it will be deleted.

There's some shit posted on here but I believe this tops the lot.
f***ing hell.

I am not quoting any figures. And I am not suggesting the ground IS sold out each week. Are people thick on this site or something?

Coming from the person saying we have 36 players, even a part time Brighton fan knows how thin our squad is.

:lolol: that'll cover the costa coffee account and stuff.

I can't remember what the threshold was for filing abbreviated accounts was before I left blighty, I think it was £4m then. I assume the club have to file full accounts and that the full breakdown of expenditure is available somewhere?.

Good work on the turnover figures Auditor. Looks like Season tickets account for over 70% of gate receipts.
