Another Amazon fraud attempt.

Phone rings, and answer

This is an automated message from Amazon, as there appears to be a suspicious order on your account, then lists item and value (over £1,000).

Press 1 to confirm order or press 2 to speak to an assistant.

I put the phone down.

No email confirmation of order received, and no record of order under account on Amazon site.

So assume that they would want to verify c/card details if I pressed 2.

I get them weekly it seems.

Yup; it appears to be the scam dejour.

I would be very disappointed if anybody fell for it! Apply some logic; what would be achieved by suspending "your tv license account"? Absolutely nothing.

They ask you to "tell us....your official identity information" What? that's nonsense.

Email address for the REAL TV licencing authority is @tvlicensing.co.uk

Plenty enough clues

Took a phone call from an Indian sounding chap this morning who told me he was calling from BT Openreach. It seems like the internet use in my house was very high and it was suspected that my internet had been hacked. The gentleman kindly offered to help me fix this and just wanted me to give access to my router. I managed to drag it our for a while but eventually said I couldn't find a BT router in the house, only a Virgin one. When I suggested that he may be a scammer, he abruptly ended the call for some reason!

I've received nine scam calls to my home phone and mobile in the last two days.
I never answer them because I don't recognise the numbers.
But when you are ill it's a pain in the arse getting up and down.
I cannot say what I would do with the people that are behind these calls because I would be banned.

About 2 months ago I received an e mail from OVO a previous energy supplier. It asked me for my bank details which I did not give them. I have just received a cheque in the post. You never know who to believe these days.

Had three variants of the same one today purporting to be from HSBC, Three mobile and O2.

Three different mobile numbers but identical text.

Someone is making a killing out of these miserable times.

Received the phantom type last week, where it was just silence at their end.

I was disappointed that it wasn’t a scammer, as I was in the mood for wasting their time and then a finale of some abusive.

i cant beleive ive just spent over an hour reading this "scam the scammer" thread but its been evolving daily since the beginning of Sept.

Theyve basically intercepted some emails from a guy in Ghana trying to con an old man. They have him hook line and sinker convinced hes going to get $10000 from the Chruch of the Holy Lamb :sheep:
but in order to pay him he needs to be annointed as a reverend of their church.. needs to find 12 disciples to follow him, build a monument and a bench for people to pray at and only then will they pay him. They also drop a hint that he can earn thousands more in using the church to setup a charitable foundation to feed the hungry. Not wanting to under-sell this opportunity he asks them for a further $350,000 !!

Hilarilious but quite a long read ..

ATTN: From donovanmills8@gmail.com

It is our pleasure to inform you about this urgent issue at hand; for
the purpose of clarity I am
Advocate Matt Glover of Glover Attorneys located at 34 Paul Kruger
Street Pretoria South Africa.
I am vested with the authority to execute the last Will & Testament of
Late Mr. Trevor Blunden,
an American citizen who died in a ghastly motor accident with his wife
on the 27th of September
2017; unfortunately they had no child of their own.

Please bear in mind that the reason for this late notification is;
since Late Mr. Trevor Blunden
demised his Will was contested by his Nephew Mr. Johannes Blunden who
has his own selfish
agenda for his Uncle’s estate. The good news now is that last week,
Probate Court has finally
ruled on the issue that all beneficiaries should be notified to
receive their inheritance, and that is
why we send you this email to inform you that Late Mr. Trevor Blunden
left 15% of his total
Estate for you which is US$ 7,500,000.00; to use 50% of this money to
aid charity of your choice
while 50% should be for you and your family. This may sound strange
and unbelievable to you
but it is real and true. Being a widely traveled man Late Mr. Trevor
Blunden was while he was
alive, he must have been in contact with you somewhere in the past.

For your bequeathed (US$ 7.5million) to be release to you send us the
below information for our
re-verification to be very sure that we are indeed dealing with the
legal person on the will to
enable us proceed with the release of your funds. Note that whatever
information you give us here
is safe and kept confidential only for this purpose.

1.) Your full names.
2.) Your Current contact address.
3.) Your Date of birth.
4.) Your Cell phone.
5.) Your occupation.
6.) Your nationality.

Immediately we are in receipt of the above required information from
you, a copy of the Will
shall be send to you immediately for your confirmation before we will
proceed with the necessary
particulars so that what Late Mr. Trevor Blunden left for you would be
release to you without
delay. Very crucial warning, if you know that this email address
doesn’t belongs to you; please
don’t bother to respond back to us but if you are very sure that
indeed this email address is yours
don’t hesitate to reply us immediately to proceed.

Yours Faithfully,

Attorney: Advocate Matt Glover
