Paul Danson.

Those who remember the calibre of refs will know that he is not at the top of the tree ( nor are Styles, D'Urso, Messias and Wiley after not giving that penalty to Watford last Saturday ).

Danson thinks he's bigger than the game sometimes. I hope I'm wrong and I also hope we get someone half decent for the QPR game.???

Danson is a prick, terrible ref

Got kicked off the Premiership list of refs about 3/4 years ago and I'm surprised he hasn't been dropped like a stone by Nationwide

Expect many yellows, and dodgy decisions (to both sides)

One again we have the pricks on here slaging the referees to the hilt.

What is wrong with you ?

All you f***ing do is slag the referees off when given the circumstances, you wouldn't do any better would you ? I bet half of the people who swear blind at how shit this referee was, or what a w@nker the other one was , I bet you dont even know the FULL rules of the game.

You just turn up, shout at the referee (WHEN HE IS DOING THE CORRECT JOB) slag him off , and then go home.

I bet you wouldn't even :censored: take the referee course or even  be able to handle one bloody game. As a referee you have to have thick bloody skin, but you lot just take it too far :censored: sometimes. :shootself:

I admit some referees are absolutely shocking sometimes, but for god sakes until you experience being a referee, you are in no place to comment to be fair really.

I follow the albion with a passion, I take a mini-radio to games on a saturday, so at half times I can listen to the scores and sometimes the game kick off. but when the albion lose, the people on here, dont blame the players, missed chances, bad passes or missed tackles BUT ALWAYS THE REFEREE or one of his assistants. Why ?? :censored:

   what do you think ?

I agree in parts but one free kick he gave against Knight in the first half must have been for a black man kicking the ball because there was no - repeat no other explanation. Some referees like to be centre of attention - such as Danson and they seem to love winding a particular crowd up. Mistakes I can accept - egos I have a problem with.

Blaming the ref is as much a part of English football as shit pies, singing, third division scraps and Match of the Day. Alex Ferguson does it and I bet no-one on here could manage a team to 10 league championships and the Champions League either.

What annoys me about the standard of referees is that there is no comeback for outrageous decisions.
I don't mean the scoreline because nothing can change that but there have been blatant mistakes made.

Was it me, or did we get an offside decision when we took a corner from the left side of the pitch in the second half?
I said it must have been for a push in the back but Ned distinctly saw the linesman's flag go up (not just waved about) and it was before anyone else had touched the ball

(and before anyone tries to say I don't understand the offside rule because I am female, I have already proved to a lot of people that I do  )

The ball went straight out from the corner - hence the flagging

There was one corner which curved out again but the one I am talking about was kicked into the 6 yard box (in front of the away fans)

Having said that I was viewing it from H block so my view is too far away to tell.

Yes, I agree. As I've said before, the only problem I have with referees is consistency, the difference in what constitutes a warning/caution/dismissal for different referees is the frustrating point.

But this does not make all referees imune to being complete pricks. Prosser obviously is because of the racism accusations. Isn't Danson the guy that refereed the Sunderland v Tranmere FA Cup tie, and sent off a player, then allowed him to be replaced by a substitute so both teams still had 11 men? Don't think there's much argument with that, being able to count should be a pre-requisite for a referee.

The whole 'could you do it?' debate is a farce Referee87.

People who make mistakes in their jobs usually end up getting fired. If I continually made f***-ups in my job I would expect the sack whatever I could say about the pressure I'm under and the pace at which my industry moves. And sod the argument about having so many people scrutinising your errors, I have (potentially) tens, even hundreds of thousands of people scrutinising my work every day and that doesn't mean I can say: "We'll if there's that many people looking at it then they're bound to find something wrong."

Park referees, fair enough, it's a paid hobby and they deserve respect as millions of blokes would have nothing to do on a Saturday or Sunday without them and they give up their time to do it, but in the professional ranks I feel we are entitled to expect better from refs who get a generous match fee. I have to add to this that players don't help with their gamesmanship. I would like to see straight reds handed out for gamesmanship - that would make them think again.

As a rider, I must add that it is unfair to compare football refs with rugby refs as thier game is a lot slower overall and allows a lot more contact.
