Would have to say a northern soul monster... I'm On My Way - Dean Parrish. But I could have picked one of many from that genre. It was a minor hit in 1975 (got to about No. 44) after gaining popularity at Wigan Casino, having been originally released in 1968.

bloody marvellous song, I've just compiled a cd of northern gems for our wedding, virtually all of the classics are relatively unknown, how about Torture, Maxine Brown, splendid tune
