Old people moaning about the "ways of today" based on selective nostalgic memories of how they felt things used to be is a timeless concept.

As usual the answer is: if people are weird and bad today, its your fault because you raised them and built the society of today.
This is true. People talk about the generation after them being weak and pathetic. That is parents just slagging off their kids. I guess it is the classic line like about people who have nice immigrant neighbours hate immigrants but say “no I don’t mean those ones. Those are okay. It is all the others I don’t know”

You also see what's staring you in the face wherever you look. Unless you want to close your eyes, put your fingers in your ears and go 'La-la-la-la-la' and pretend it's not there.
You are implying that I don’t see it or do anything about, I didn’t say that.

But hey why do anything to make the world a better place when you can moan about it on the internet.

Limit to what can do, and I’d say the battle is being lost by some distance - unless you’re going to give us all day to day examples of how the tide has turned?

You mean like those 2nd and 3rd generation from immigrants calling to stop the boats?

It’s entitlement pure and simple

Today was waiting for an Xray at the hospital, a group of us, roughly 8-10 were moved down to the next (final waiting room) from what I can tell we all had appointments, so a natural order as such.

Anyway one of the group was a 50 year old mum with a late teen daughter, with the latter becoming verbally frustrated that 10 mins had past and hadn’t been seen. She tells the mum she’s going and despite the mum pleading with her to be patient as the xray is important, she storms out of the waiting room, leaving the mum.

Guess who name gets called with a minute of the scene, yep.

Rather than the team see the next available person present we all had to wait an extra 15 mins whilst the little darling was found and calmed.

Her attitude to waiting and the way she spoke to her mum who had driven her there and taken up her own time really f***ed me off. I nearly intervened and said something, before knowing my place. The level of entitlement and attitude was appalling

Is this what getting old feels like?

There have to be people that don’t steal, don’t throw crap on the floor and so on. Yeah it’s annoying to see lots of people steal and get away with it but eventually it will fall on their own doorstep. If we break the rules then our nations become💩 holes of lawlessness like some of these other countries have become.

Not really you are right to get annoyed with what happened.
You shouldn’t have to see this type of person and behaviour when you were going about your business at the hospital.
Embarrassing for her mother, annoying and time wasting for you, the other patients and very frustrating for the hospital staff.

I have constant hospital appointments and in my experience the people that moan the most about pretty much anything are the men in the same demographic as me; 60+.

Sorry, I forgot I was supposed to save the world today. I'll do it tomorrow, OK?

You find what you look for. What about all the good stuff that goes on?
Absolutely this. Christ on a bike imagine living life so miserable. Most people are decent; most streets are clean (ok yes some roads could and should be cleaner); most drivers are considerate; most people are honest; nothing much has changed in forever- you'd find people moaning about the demise of society at large in the same way since time began.

Someone posted this the other day on another thread - it fits here too:
“The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise... if the whole world depends on today's youth, I can't see the world lasting another hundred years"

My son passed out on the P&R bus towards the Amex one evening game in the championship so a while ago now, he was lying on the floor out cold and I’m telling you now not one person came to my aid. If it were the other way around and some other fella was struggling to get his son back to his feet I would have been there to help no question. I lost a lot of faith in humanity that day.
I looked at the useless idiots around me and it was heads down staring into phones rather than help a stranger in need, quite a surreal moment.

I've had a similar thing a couple of times (so I've been told as I've been out of it), people just walked by without offering to help my friend as they've assumed I've passed out through drink or drugs as it's been at night. Not the case. The worst one was when my face was covered in blood from where I'd bitten my tongue & smacked my head on the pavement. People were apparently walking past tutting, a few comments of 'someone can't hold their drink' & 'who lost the fight'.
My friend didn't actually need help as they know the protocol but it's safe to say that if my friend could've got up from the floor & leave me, they would've liked to have punched a couple of people!

Don't loose complete faith though, as I'd help and I'd like to think that people who know me, would help you as well. Really sad to hear that you weren't helped, especially on a bus with other fans. There maybe an element though of you looking like you had it completely under control & people not wanting to 'interfere'? Who knows? I like my happy bubble that says most people aren't like the people in OP's description, but the minority of twats stand out from the majority.
