Oh come on, you've both been here long enough to know people's opinions generally change in the blink of an eye - win and we're great Dickinson and Murray would walk into Man Utd's first team Smith is an albion legend in the making, lose and we're shit Smith will never overcome his scottishness, dickinson is not even good enough for a sunday pub team and Murray is sabotaging his own team in an effort to escape the hell of Brighton.
And that, in one, sums up North Stand Chat to an absolute tee.

But, thankfully, that doesn't sum up the fans, on the whole. It's all too easy to imagine that NSC is representative of the entire Albion fanbase, when it's not.

Forget North Stand Chat. Withdean's North Stand is full of people who've seen players, teams and managers - even chairmen - come and go, but still come to virtually every home game. People who don't claim a player is the new Zamora one week, only to demand his dismissal the next because he didn't wave to them. (Or, just possibly, because we didn't win...)

All around the ground are thousands of supporters who don't scream for the manager's head after a whole ten games in charge, who don't gather to chant mindless abuse at this week's unfashionable player... Who don't send ignorant, instant-judgment texts to be read out during the phone-in. Oh, and they don't even read NSC, let alone post on it.

What this unsung army of nonentities do manage to achieve, though, is perspective: being able to take the long view. Accepting the rough with the smooth, while always hoping for - but not expecting or demanding - better times. And uncomplainingly supporting the club they've loved since childhood, emotionally, irrationally, yes - but most important of all, financially.
