West is BEST
There Will Be Blood
The Irishman
Taxi Driver
The Phantom Thread
The Deer Hunter

Lots of similar films, basically epics with the best actors of their generation. Great films but no urge to watch again.

Off the top of my head

The Diving Bell And The Butterfly
Shoah
Hard To Be A God

Glad to have seen them, wouldn't want to again.

Same goes for any Lars Von Trier film .. although not so glad to have seen some of them.

12 monkeys and Usual Suspects are films I have watched multiple times, they have qualities other than the twist. Sixth sense is a onewatch, Schindlers list too, just because its so ****ing long.

One I watched recently and will not again is the film "The Father", it was excellent, had a profound effect on me. As I do with a lot of films, I watched it without reading any synopsis, which I think was particularly important, it definitely won't be anything like the same experience on a second watch.
"Hereditary" is one I enjoyed maybe only because I knew nothing about what I was about to see, and I won't watch again.

Couple more

Christiane F
Pixote

Saw them on a double bill in the late 80s. Bit much for one sitting.

Scholars of my work will know a favourite podcast of mine is The Rewatchables.
Now over 200 episodes of eminently rewatchable films.

Anyhoo a question was posed last week:-

Which films are The Onewatchables?

These must be great films.
But films you have no intention of rewatching.

Their prime example being, Million Dollar Baby.

Remember this isn't just 'I'll never watch Cats again cos it's shitehouse'.
This is 'that was great, but I'll not be watching it again'.

Nil by Mouth and Requiem For a Dream are two that jump out to me here. Both are amazing experiences but wholly harrowing and not something I want to sit through again.

The Deer Hunter - the only film that has ever traumatised me and stuck in my head for days afterwards
Carrie - most shocked I’ve been when I thought a film was about to finish

All the films that immediately sprang to mind have been mentioned

Million Dollar Baby is the top of the list, a truly great film, but God, i will never watch it again.

I will probably never watch Black swan again either.

Well, I’m the opposite. I only ever watch about 10 films more than once. Same with books and I’ve read thousands.
Some films I won’t rewatch Black Hawk Down, Joker, Citizen Kane, Trainspotting it’s a long list but they were great.

Shutter Island. Once you've seen the ending it would ruin the second watch.
Schindler's List. Absolutely unbelievable film, but tragically awful too, no desire to put myself through that again.
Three Billboards. Thoroughly enjoyed it at the time but for some reason I don't think I'd enjoy it again.

I'm sure there's loads more. I'll have a think.

Requiem For A Dream

This has been on my "must watch that" list for so many years now, not sure why I keep putting it off because I've heard great things about it.

The Crying Game.
As for Shindlers List, as a secondary school history teacher I've had to relive the trauma several times. - of being a teacher and the film!

definately Sixth Sense, once you know the twist i think your experience of the film would be fundementally changed and would over analyse every scene.

There Will Be Blood definitely. Though for ssome reason I bought the DVD when it came out and have never felt in anyway tempted.
I've seen Deer Hunter 10 times I reckon but when I watched it last year I thought it was very good but could do without that again for a while

I'd go for Gravity and Birdman -excellent at the Cinderella but no wish to watch them again on a TV
