Bloody Worthing!
Notts county game (very bad day) and improbably a Wales v Scotland rugby union game (when the Welsh were building their new stadium).
However, by a strange coincidence I'm off to do 2 days work at the place in a week or so.

It was so much easier in the 80's you could role up for England matches and pay cash on the turnstiles, same for various minor cup finals

I went on a coach to thepostponed game and went back the next day for the rescheduled match.
About 20, including The Who and Stones gigs.
Went on a coach to England v Northern Ireland in '78. Nine of us were milling about in the concourse before the game and a guy came up to us and asked if we wanted to be ballboys because the schoolkids were stuck on the motorway and couldn't get there in time. Down we went to the changing rooms, got changed into England (training) shirts, shorts and tracksuits and marched out onto the pitch to watch the game close up. England won 4-0 and I was the ballboy behind the goal where England scored 3. Keegan got 2 that night. They took the tracksuits back but let us keep the crappy oversized shirts and shorts. We each got a letter from Ted Croker a few weeks later together with a pen with the England crest on.

U2 Zooropa tour.
