This season's all about defence. Quite right too. Some teams - but not many - are always going to be too good for us and will defeat us by a narrow margin.

Clearly we've now got the defence and midfield sorted for this level of competition. Can't help but feel tho that if we could do something - ANYTHING - about our woefully toothless forward line then we'd actually be pressing in on the play-off places on a regular basis. Happy to settle for mid-table non-mediocrity mind...

Scrappy game. Hammond was outstanding. The midfield as a whole played well. But totally toothless up front.
Our atmosphere was something else!

Great day out for the 20+ Albas from various parts of Scotland. Sunlun fans were great.

But where was their hammer net? No athletics records there then. :lolol:

They're in for a real shock when they do actually realise they'll only get 700 tickets! :nono: :shootself  :censored:

Wigan beat Leeds today so we are still in 15th place which is a good result.

Overall October has been a good month for us. We started off in 16th place, 5 points clear of relegation and ended up 15th and 6 points clear of relegation, despite injuries, sickness, suspension and operations to key players. We still have our manager (a major achievement after the last 4 years)

Way out West
Just got back :)) ). Great weekend, shame about the result. Some Sunderland fan we met on the way out said our away support was the biggest and best so far this season. Haven't read any reports of the match, but all I can say is that El Abd played sensationally. If Harding can get in the England U21s, then El Abd should go straight into the full team NOW! His substitution was tactical (or a result of injury - he came off second-best in a crunching tackle that got the Sunderland player booked). Our game fell to pieces when he went off.

sadly it was a tactical decision - McGhee's admission, he thought we could win!- can't see why he took El Abd off and moved Hinshelwood to right back (again!) and put Jarrett wide left. Both goals conceded were down Harding's/Jarrett's side (again!).

I think El Abd is one of the most consistent players and he can't be very happy regularly being taken off and replaced by Hinshelwood at right back.

How McGhee thought we could win I don't know. Jake for Leon couldn't have made things any worse.

yeah i can see were your coming from but like they said on the radio any points against teams like leeds and sunderland are bonus points and we got three point from leeds and none from sunderland i think mark did the right thing trying to go for the win

To my mind we are 20th.

Of the teams below us now - Forest, Wolves, Cardiff, Coventry and Leeds will not still be below us in May.

We have a decent chance of finishing above Rotherham, Gillingham, Crewe and mayb Burnley. 3 of those 4 will do - that's all it's about. Don't lose too much sleep worrying over whether Leeds will catch us. They will!

Great Stadium, the noise we made was reverberating off the roof!!

Sunderland fans really nice, and I felt regardless of the result we played a great passing game (of which is improving every game!)

Hammond was magnificent!!!

Great day!!

Bollocks. We are where we deserve to be. There's not reason we shouldn't remain in this position. Leeds have a crap manager, Cardiff have no strikers, Forest have a sever confidence problem & are preparing for a relegation battle, Coventry are average. If Wolves get a decent replacement for Jones then they'll climb. They may go for someone on the inside who may be shit.

Of course we are. I still don't believe we will finish above any of those teams.

It's a marathon and not a sprint, as we found out after Burnley 1 - 3 Albion last time round...

That's the second best Stadium of Light I've been to this year!

Great support. Needed a big man upfront to unsettle their possession and passing game.
