That particular post didn't need one. It's for each poster to take it as they will. If they are being serious then they can take it seriously, if not then they wo't take it seriously. Sometimes people need to work it out for themselves.

Some of us laugh out loud, some of us are deeply offended and most are somewhere in between.

Using smilies helps to ease the numbers of those who would otherwise be deeply offended. As I say, I'm more guilty of most in not using smilies to impart tone in my posts.
