The North Stand Medical Emergency

Just before half time i there was a flurry of steward activity in the north stand just in front of the press box. We were told we couldn't use the walkway behind the stand because of a medical emergency and had to use the running track. I gathered a chap had collapsed as a steward was comforting a lady. The was a doctor and medical personnell with two stewards holding a blanket up to shield the view from the everyone. No further news but I hope whoever it was is okay.

From the South Stand I saw a person being taken away seated on a stretcher type piece of equipment so hopefully everything was OK.

Luckily the Stewards took matters into control, organized well and things were run smoothly. The patient was attended to after an initial emergency situation, and when lifted away appeared comfortable, awake, and in capable hands to go off to hospital.

Well done everyone, fans included, for keeping the fuss to a minimum.

Good luck to the old fellow too, of course.

I hope he is ok too.

Perhaps he should stay away in future if the excitement of the 1st half was too much for him!

Actually, that was about the most exciting incident of the 1st half. Stewards dealt with it well but why should it be assumed that football supporters are stupid anyway? Stewards told us what to do, and why, and the fans complied, no bother.

Hope he was ok.

Good that the stewards managed to help and just as well he was in the North Stand as the stewards in the South Stand were too busy watching the game.

Right here, right now
I was in K block and and at half time overheard one old duffer moaning that there were too many stewards in the ground!

I hope they won't all rush to his aid if he ever has the misfortune to suffer a medical emergency, or assist him in exiting the ground in a safe manner if it had to be evacuated for whatever reason!!

The gent concerned was taken to hospital and released late last night.

That's very good to know; it happened right near me and looked pretty worrying for a while. When it's hot, the north stand is quite a suntrap. DK was chatting and presumably trying to assure his wife/partner.

And at least 247 people cracked the "well it can't be from the excitement of the game" gag just within my earshot although it might well have been more than that.
