Gutsy performance against a big club but poor second half and awful on pitch refereeing.

2 points dropped because we had just about got it in the bag - Newcastle didn’t look like scoring with Bart having a particularly good afternoon. One needless penalty and missing an open goal when all we had to do was hold on, likely buries any chance of Europe next season - given what was at stake, a very disappointing result.

NB EDIT to @Silverhatch post below this. This is not saying “we HAD it in the bag” but at 89 minutes we certainly almost did until we conceded a silly schoolboy pen.

It wasn't a foul. The player made it look a bit like a foul, and another chance for Pawson to blow something for Newcastle.

Exactly my point. We were “just about” there.

We were solid in defence and Bart was on form too.

This boils down to game management - I don’t expect us to dig in at 60 mins with no goal cushion but at 85 mins, we should have tightened it up and held up the game better imo.
