Euromillions biggest pisstake of them all, odds of hitting the jackpot just about 117 million to one, that why your getting all these rollovers then 1 ticket scoops the lot,the smaller prizes are a disgrace for example 2 numbers pays £2.70 for a 23/1 chance, the games are all the same.

Nice little perm for you if you fancy doing the new health lotto.

Pick 6 numbers and perm them into 5 folds (6 bets) as the odds are better so if you hit 3 numbers from your 6 you will have it 3 times £150, hit 4 from 6 will give you £1000 + £150 and hit 5 from 6 100,000 + £1000 + £150

This is not going to make you a millionaire but you have a much better chance for the smaller prizes than with the national lotto.

I agree completely about the National Lottery. When it was first launched the top prize was getting on for £15m but now it barely tops £6m. The attempts to reinvigorate have been a joke as they now just do more draws and therefore trying to squeeze more money about of the paying public...I mean, 3 Thunderball draws per week and what is that daily play all about?

What they should do is up the prizes. Matching 3 balls has won you £10 since the National Lottery started and although winning a tenner is quite nice, it feels like a smaller amount these days.

Therefore I reckon they should up the minimum win to £20 for getting 3 numbers...Also, for matching 4 balls you should be guaranteed £100. Now, nabbing 20 quid just for just getting 3 balls and a ton for 4 would encourage more people to play and makes sense to me...But I am not holding my breath.

Albion & England forever.

In the period up to March 2012, around 28% of total National Lottery revenue is expected to go to the Good Causes.

During the new licence, over 50% of total National Lottery revenue is expected to be paid to winners in prizes, while 12% of total revenue is expected to be paid to the Government in Lottery Duty. National Lottery retailers will earn 5% in sales commission for each Draw-Based Game — and 6% commission on each Scratchcard (Camelot's retailers earn on average £9,500 per annum in lottery commission). Operating costs will be around 4% of total revenue.

The government take 12%. Not a bad money maker for them.

Somewhere (possibly in the back of the Racing Post) they have to print the breakdown of scratchcard prizes.

I noted that very early on, and since then have never been tempted, they were shocking odds.

I disagree, winning £10 or £20 is pointless, most people will just spend a win like that on more tickets/scratchcards to try and win a bigger prize. How much is a decent amount to win, I'd say £500 minimum, that pays for a short break somewhere or a season ticket for football or whatever, a reasonable sum that you can treat yourself to something with. Similarly, what is the lowest amount that is "life changing", I'd say £2m. Face it, for most most people paying off their debts, buying a decent house, a nice car and having an exotic holiday wouldn't leave much change from a million these days, the other million represents 20-50 years of wages for the average person, ie (if banked somewhere to keep reasonable pace with inflation) enough to not have to work again. Any more than £2m is greedy. So scrap the lower prizes, have set prizes with £500 the mimimum (for 4 numbers + bonus ball or something) and £2 million the maximum (for 6 numbers). I haven't done the maths, but at first glance something like that shouldn't cost more than is currently paid out in National Lottery prizes. You know it makes sense.

They want to create fancy dan giant jackpots, apparently this make more people play, thats why it's so hard to win.

Thimble Keegan your right there are far to many games, it was ok when we just had wed and sat, now a draw for every day of the week, feel for people that play the same numbers because you feel the need to do them when when they bring out a new draw.

I hope that people desert the national lottery for this new health lotto, £100,000 would do me, i don't want to win 100 million, would cause to many problems for me.

Actually you are a little bit off on your calculations, if you perm 5 numbers from 6 and hit the 5 numbers you'd have

1 x £100k
5 x £500
10 x £50

So a little bit better than you think

If you hit 4 you'd get

2 x £500
10 x £50

Turns out your chances of making money from the lottery are slim. Who knew?

Lot of people prefer the Irish Lottery to the UK one. Bigger prizes for fewer correct numbers. Smaller top jackpot, but you're not going to win that anyways.

Thankyou ernest but you are wrong, when doing this perm in this instance on the health lotto it is just 6x 5 folds so you would only be able to win on 6 lines not 16 as you said, you can not claim more than 1 prize on a line.

Had a look at the health lottery. What's are the chances of winning?

You not going to be a millionaire but you will do a lot better with the smaller prizes, for example 3 number of nat lotto pays a tenner and the odds are 327/1 on the health lotto it's 214/1 and you win £50, 4 numbers nat lotto around £60 with odds of 14,387 /1 health lotto, 9,416 /1 and you win £500, 5 numbers nat lotto odds of 3,236,995 /1 and you win, £1,500 (big shit) health lotto 2,118,760 /1 and you win 100 grand

Still only costs a pound though? I rarely do it myself as I don't approve of gambling :moo:

I think it would be difficult to raise the £10 minimum prize as so many people win it every draw,if upwards of half a million people get 3 numbers every week raising it to £20 would take a big chunk out of the prize fund.

My preferred method of every lottery draw is to spend £4 every draw,I do a 2 number hotpicks,a 3 number hotpicks,a 4 number hotpicks, and a normal lottery line, all lucky dips.
I have not even won a £10 prize on the normal lottery this year but luckily enough have had two 3 number hotpicks come up netting me £450 both times.
