It's possible to be patriotic
and not sing jingoistic exhortations to crushing Scotsmen. (A mate of ours is going to Cardiff in the stripes and a kilt as are some more Scotish Seagulls-which is brilliant!)
Is there anyone up for Billy Connelly idea of responding with the theme from The Archers?
Just as the excruciatingly time dealyed echo of our National dirge pipes up it would be joy to hear "dum de dum de dum de dum dum de dum de dah dah". Go on it would be terribly terribly witty.
PS If Prezza a republican, then proving our political savvy is no badd thing.

In your head - or out loud - pick the highest note you can sing comfortably.
That's your GO, as in “GO-ing up and we'll win the Cup”

Every national anthem exists to be laughed at. We're only divided up into nationalities so that we are easier to control. I'm from Brighton so GOSBTS is my anthem even though I'm exiled in West Ham territory. Must admit that the Argentinian anthem is good for a knees up.

Hope the 79,998 people there not from Ireland don't mind if I don't even pretend to sing the British national anthem and wave a 15 square foot tricolour then? 
I don't think any national anthemn should be booed or be drowned out by trying to sing another chant.
It is about respect. You may not like the constitution as it is at present but you can respect it.
If people boo or try to sing over it, then it is going to make us look totally ignorant on tv to the rest of the country.

Just be quiet for the two or three minutes it takes to play and then lets all sing Sussex by the Sea at our very loudest.
