Still in Brighton
"Bicentennial Man was about a robot who over 200 years learned to love the good in humans and wanted to be accepted as one. He finally did in the end scene. I found it very moving but was poo pood but the critics but lives with me".

Ah, there's nothing like recommending a film... and telling everyone the ending aswell! 😄
I'll mark that one down as... I might give it at go but, ah, no, maybe not now.

Mary Poppins.
People think its just a kids film....

Rated by Mark Kermode as something else and by me and by nobody else I suspect.

I love this film. My daughters and I watched it together dozens of times.

They still quote “it’s grand to be an Englishman in 1910” at me, and I will never grow tired of this.

Backbeat.

Always loved this for the humour and the energy the actors brought to it, despite some obvious physical differences to real band. Happily re-watched it many times over the years.

Saw this on the big screen when released. Been trying to find it again for years, was never available for sale on streaming platforms. Popped up recently on the Google store and planning to watch it this weekend. Great film.

The Brother From Another Plant, a cult classic from 1984, which should be more widely appreciated.
A film which can be downloaded or streamed for free entirely legally because they failed to put the copyright notice on the print.
Unless Plant isn't a typo of planet in which case I've not seen it.

Shot Caller.
About an everyday man who is convicted for a DUI offence, it follows his transformation from a mild mannered businessman into a hardened gang member.

Brazil is a 1985 dystopian science-fiction black comedy film written and directed by Terry Gilliam its been my favourite film for years but hardly anyone seems to know about it
Everyone knows about it. It’s a very well rated film, regarded as a classic and always included in top 100 movie lists.

Nobody knows about it?

Stuff and nonsense.

Anyway, the thread is about most underrated films and Brazil is not underrated. It’s regularly praised.

Spectre.

Despite its flaws it’s the best bond film to date for my money.

Taking inspiration from OHMSS and From Russia… it’s got it all.

Train fights, cable car peril, snow chases, tremendous opening scene, a rogue Bond, Monica Belluci, a brief look into Bond’s inner life, round table meetings of criminal organisations.. it’s packed.

A definitive but very overlooked, nay dismissed, Bond adventure.

That was my first thought, but on reflection I've met a good few people who've never heard of it. Probably underrated amongst the population at large simply because people have either seen it and think it's great (the minority and particularly skewed towards people who are really into films) or are totally unaware of its existence.

Last of the Mohicans

It's got action, history, romance, Daniel day Lewis, Michael Mann, a great soundtrack. I've never understood how it's not regarded as one of the best films of all time
