When I was a teenager I tried reading Lord of the Rings and gave up after about 100 pages as I thought it was the most tedious hippie gumbo. I too thought the films would be rubbish. I was wrong.

Now Harry Potter on the other hand ......

Long Sault, actually....
The difference between the Matrix and LotR trilogies is that LotR was filmed all in one go and then split up.

The Matrix was filmed first, then there was a gap between that and Matrix 2 & 3.

Having said that I haven't seen any of the LotR trilogy yet. I'm waiting for the whole lot to come out on DVD so I can watch them all in one go one after the other.

:p

Not the real one
Just got back from seeing Matrix Revolutions. I liked it. Thought it tied the story up well. There were 3 plots running at the same time at some points and although the ending i though would be different i thought it again was visually stunning and the dialog was as good as any Hollywood blockbuster. To those that are reading this thread and just saying"oh no, I'm not going now", i think you should make up your own mind. Personally i don't think the Matrix needed any sequels but they made them and they are worthy of the first film.
However, Reloaded and revolutions are really one film and you should never watch one without seeing the other within a short space of time. It's like a two part play. You can't see the first part 8 months ago and then go and see the second half when it follows straight on. To anyone thats only see Reloaded once when it came out, I can see how Revolutions may appear to not stand up on its own, but it doesn't. It needs Reloaded. I saw Reloaded last night and Revolutions this morning. Made the whole experience much better with the previous film fresh in the mind.

To appreciate it you must be very familiar with Reloaded. Go and see it. excluding the one or two hollywood type corny lines the verdict from me is that...Its good.

Im gonna see matrix tonight - will report back accordingly.

As for the LOTR - 1st one - very slow and really boring in parts. 2nd one - much better but still some absolute crap in there. Looking forward to the 3rd though...

Worst thing about the LOTR films is Frodo being such a whingey little shite! I reckon Boromir had the right idea - skin the filthy little bastard!

Worst line / sequence in a film ever? End of the second one Frodo and Sam - walking along, each talking about how great the other is. "ooh Mr. Frodo - I said not up the ass!"

Watched it today - A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT

I loved the first one and will keep the 2 disc DVD, but won't be buying Reloaded or Revolutions, or the inevitable 3 movie box set that the sad raincoat brigade will go for.

Don't waste your dosh that what I say !

You have been warned.

Would anyone care to eloborate on the Matrix 3 ending for me? it completely baffled me!

(spoilers).........

Right at the end I gather they were in the Matrix cos the little girl said she did that to the Sky, sooo... what happened? Did Agent Smith win and the whole human race in the Matrix world was wiped out? Do the humans and machines co-exist in harmony in the real world? And why could Neo "see" when he was blinded?

:dunce: :dunce: :dunce:

Just got back from watching it. Must say I did enjoy more than the second one. The end scene was incredibly cheesy, but that's Hollywood.

On the LOTR debate it has to be said they have been fantastic so far and I cannot wait for December

Saw the Matrix last night, and while I enjoyed it, its go nothing on the first 2.

Morpheus is completely wasted.
Acting is best described as "ham" by the extras.
Cheesy lines you can see coming a mile away.
Annoyingly vague dialogue (why? you have to make a choice? what choice do i make? you have to choose? what if I cant make that choice? thats for you to decide.... etc etc.)
Also - whats happened to the soundtrack?

On the plus side - some of the fight scenes are great (people jumping about on the ceiling? very nice) and some are plain stupid (big fight at the end). Some great effects and the idea is still very very good.

As for the end - (POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT) - I think it was left deliberately vague for the impending sequels. Neo struck a deal to stop the "war" (although I think they just meant that particular battle). So as its left - the matrix stands as before, everything goes on as it did before Neo turned up and Smith stuck his oar in. Meanwhile the human race is still enslaved, Zion is still a bit of a pit with a handful of people. Except now, we dont know whats happened to Neo, and the machines know where Zion is so they can have another pop later.

I dont think the film was difficult to follow - just infuriatingly vague.

However - any diappointment was quickly alleviated courtesy of our local Nando's - peri peri tastic!

Cor - I aint half gone on a bit!

Agent Smith made a mistake by taking over Neo (in the matrix). By doing that he allowed Neo/machines access to his code which then started the chain reaction which killed all the Agent Smithf off.

Neo could see while blinded because he was still partially connected to the matrix in some way, and with the machines also being connected to the matrix, he was able to see them.

But your forgetting that any humans that want to leave the Matrix when contacted but the humans in Zion are allowed to leave the Matrix. There is peace and the Matrix has gone back to normal. As the Architect said "for how long?"
