It’s 500 euros for front row seats. Gig has almost sold out as well.
I have also read about David Byrne's touring routine. He takes a bicyle, cycles around the city he is playing/staying in, meets significant cultural icons for lunch and has the ocasional private showing of galeries.....all the while selling out 4-5000 capacity venues at keen prices.
In my next life, I plan to come back as a Oscar, Grammy, Golden Globe winning writer, visual artist, filmmaker, songwriter and singer.....it seems an easy life.

Looks like an old codger is going to see a whole bunch of old codgers in a few months time. Just realised I have three gigs of OAPs over 9 days. The Damned, The Sex Pistols and OMD. These days it will take me the 3 days between each gig to recover. Now when I were a nipper...

Had a pretty decent weekend of live music overall. Went to Outbreak on Friday, started the day with Drug Church, obviously this whole day was a celebration of all things hardcore which was great to see, and Drug Church were on the more melodic side. They were great lots of crowd surfing. After that I had a brief watch of Speed, very much appreciate the musicianship and art, but it’s not for me. After that I headed over to the main stage to see julie (I’ll come back to them). There was also a side to the festival of 90s Emo/shoegaze, and I went and saw Have A Nice Life’s first ever UK show, simply fantastic, amazing to see this band over here. Then following on from them, an absolute bucket list band that in all honesty I thought I’d never get a chance to see which was Sunny Day Real Estate, in only their second ever UK show. The founding fathers of Midwest Emo (despite being from Seattle) and the influencers of so many of my favourite bands (Modern Baseball, Joyce Manor). It felt like a real moment to see them live, and they genuinely seemed shocked to see so many people present in this country belting out their songs. Finally the headliners Turnstile, it felt like their peak from dingy clubs all the way to 15k people in Victoria park, two stepping across it. Their new album seems like a real moment for Hardcore, its genre bending beauty just works, and it’s amazing to see it do so well. On Saturday I went and saw LCD Soundsystem at Brixton Academy, I mean there’s not much more to say other than they are simply the best to ever do it. Live it’s just biblical. Finally on Sunday I went and saw julie again down at Chalk. This is up there with some of the best new 90s Shoegaze revival. There’s so much good music out there at the moment in Shoegaze, julie bringing in the experimental elements of 90s Sonic Youth, the fuzz of Dinosaur Jr and the Wall of Noise of My Bloody Valentine. It’s great to see a new younger generation of artists (they must only be early 20s) making this kind of music, and more importantly young people going out and filling venues listening to this kind of music. It’s great to see. Another gig in Hank on Tuesday at the George Tavern, and then the next gig after those will probably be Glastonbury so looking forward to plenty of that.

Marc Ribot, because of my love for his guitar work on some of the best Tom Waits' tunes. No idea what he might play though.
And Terry Reid, saw him 3 or 4 times some 10 years ago in Brighton Komedia studio bar and then at Glastonbury. He must be really old by now so I don't know if he still has that magical voice.
Sometimes nostalgia for The Greats gets you and then you see them in their old age and...

I saw him at The Brighton Centre just before Covid. He was absolutely brilliant with a stripped down stage set. I’d love to see him again but dynamic pricing and the price of tickets generally for live events is ruining a whole generation of potential live gig attendees imo. Not like the old days when you sauntered into The Brighton Centre and bought a face value ticket for a top act (£5/6 in the early 80s
). Anyway, looking forward to Love Supreme and seeing Nile Rodgers in July.
