Went to see the Sex Pistols last night at the RAH. Supported by The Molotovs and special mention to Kid Kapichi who were superb.
Although the Pistols look like 3 old age pensioners doddering around on stage, Frank Carter gave some energy to them.Spent half the time in the crowd.
Good all round gig for a great cause in a stunning building.

Is John Lydon not in the Pistols or has he changed his mind about Trump? Or is it fan art?

Antony Szmierek at Concorde 2 tonight was bloody good.
I thought was only okay but was pretty late so ended up right at the back at the sound was awful there. He could have played longer versions of his more ravey tunes, it was all a bit stop start when it didn’t need to be.

Brixton was great but the venue is absolute dog for a Knocked Loose gig. The barriers along means you can't get a proper pit going, let alone the type Knocked Loose usually have.

Basement were also incredible, perfect tonic to the Knocked Loose madness.

I've got tickets for Outbreak London but think Knocked Loose and Turnstile may be headlining separate stages unfortunately.
Yeah it's absolutely one of the pitfalls of the rise they've seen. Was at the Kentish Town Forum show the year before and the floor was an absolute sea of movement for their whole set. Would imagine the sort of scenes they'll get at the likes of Ally Pally or Wembley Arena (as the next steps up from Brixton) will similar to that.

Also doing Outbreak London with @jackalbion and a few others. Hoping that's not the case given there's a few other alternative genre artists like Alex G who may play higher on the second stage. Would love to have done the full Manchester weekend for some of the bands coming over (God's Hate finally playing the UK in particular) but the pull of seeing Turnstile after three years and how much else I've got going on this summer meant I couldn't justify that trip and chose the London event.

Also doing Outbreak with @jackalbion haha. Kentish Forum was mental yes, I was in the pit for most of it and loved every second.

This year I ended up at the barrier for Basement and just ended up staying there for Knocked Loose, made two stepping a bit hard though.

Adding MBV to my list for the year is a further indication of how stuck in my ways I am.

Throwing Muses/ Kristin Hersh
Tindersticks
The Wedding Present
Mark Eitzel
Chuck Prophet

Seen or am seeing at least twice since lockdown.

Been seeing them since I was a teenager/ in my early 20s. Now mid 50s.

...just need Bob Mould to tour again.

Or one of those new acts like Protomartyr, Drive By Truckers or Grandaddy

A few more tickets in my list. Public Service Broadcasting are doing a short run or european dates and promising to bring their full production with them. I also have a ticket for Sophia Kourtesis who is performing a one-off show where she is based ( @Is it PotG? , she is based in the same complex where the legend Nils Frahm has his studio and also where he often performs) and I decided to go and see The Sex Pistols with Frank Carter. I'll take the latter at face value and just enjoy them perform what I think is a great rock and roll album these days.

This looks great fun. I used to love Jesus Jones back in the day and Utah Saitns are good value. As an aside, a middle-aged friend of my wife had Utah Saints as their wedding DJs are few years ago :lolol:

Ta for that, I have not listened to her before. Has put me in the mood to have this on for an hour.

Starting to ramp up my live activity this month. Tribe of Ghosts at Daltons Sunday; Carmen at the Royal Opera next week; Skunk Anansie at the Dome & Black Honey at patterns the week after and then Necronautical rounding the month off on the 27th at the Green Door Store. May will see me return to The Great Escape after a year off last year.

Nice.

Nils’ ears must have been burning as he literally announced his new album a few minutes after I mentioned him. Is called Night, a companion piece to Day.

Jesus Jones surprised me actually, better than their chart hits suggested.
The whole Shiiine on weekend was really good, all 3 main stages within a 2 minute walk of each other, you could wander between them all with your beers, no need to drink up and buy another one. Chalets and the premium meal package were decent. Booked up for next year whilst there, for a good discount.
