The AirBlade

When you discover how other hand dryers work, you could be forgiven for never using one again. All they do is suck in filthy washroom air, heat it up and then blow it onto your clean hands. If being unhygienic isn't bad enough, they also take too long to dry hands and use too much energy in the process.

Dyson engineers and scientists took 3 years to create an entirely new type of hand dryer. Dyson Airbladeâ„¢ blows clean, unheated air through an aperture the width of an eyelash at over 400mph (640kmph) to hygienically wipe hands dry in just 10 seconds. That's twice as fast as most hand dryers and four times faster than some. It also uses up to 83% less energy too, so it's better for the environment. Another problem solved.

Dyson Airblade™ will cost £549 plus VAT and will be available to purchase late November.

Well, well, they've solved a problem I didn't know existed. What's wrong with just wiping your hands on your jeans if you're in a hurry?

Seen much the same thing in dozens of Asian manufacturing facilities.

I'd like to find the man who invented the 'automatic' hand dryer and shoot him.

The sensor to detect that your hands are under the dryer is usually located a foot away from where the air comes out.

Hands on jeans...

i don't like the thought of putting my hands in something called "air BLADE" ???

also it is far more dangerous to use something like that as oppose to the current aparatus, as people could easily plant needles in something like that!

It all becomes meaningless as soon as you use the doorhandles to leave the toilets. Like was said above, most people (women included) don't wash after touching their privates/ringpieces, and their germs are all over the handles.

I prefer paper towels, and normally have to open the door with either a used one, or a part of my own clothing.

someone could plant bees in a hairdryer

then you'd be in trouble

"ooh, i wish i'd used the air blade"

The majority of public loos over here don't have ANYTHING to dry your hands on. You're meant to carry your own hand towel around.
