Brighton rock Hull; Brighton 3 Hull 0
Sunday Mirror, Dec 15, 1996
E-mail Print Link Hull City's miserable Goldstone record continued when bottom of the table Brighton gave new manager Steve Gritt the perfect start with their first home win in 14 weeks.

City, who have not won at the ground for 31 years, went behind after only 61 seconds when Paul McDonald headed in a cross by Craig Maskell.

Stuart Storer increased Brighton's lead four minutes after the break.

Brighton keeper Nicky Rust produced two important saves to deny Richard Peacock and Duane Darby but Hull's defence slumped again when Maskell made it 3-0 14 minutes from time.

Cheltenham two seasons ago was a 7.45 kick off on a Saturday at the beginning of December wasn't it? We won 2-1.

Edit: which was before the aforementioned Carlisle game!
