Who's to say he won't? Albion have protected their interests by invoking the second year clause so if he does go, other than being a bit disappointing, we're not going to lose out financially.

i think if that were the case he would have gone by now I think he's trying to wriggle out of the contract

I'm baffled how Elche could offer him more money? I thought individual teams in Spain dealt with their own rights with Real and Barca taking the lions share and the rest of La Liga taking what's left.

A Liga Adelante team with a half empty ground cant be making that much can they?

Out of interest where is the source that said Elche could offer more money? There was a Spanish newspaper/website report linked on here saying they were willing to offer him around 300,000-400,000 euros a year, that's the only numbers I've seen anywhere. The Argus is reporting Elche want to make him their highest paid player - but nowhere that they can afford to pay more than us, which I simply don't believe to be true.

I see it as most likely, him wanting to go back to Spain - not any reflection on the Albion, our squad, manager, fans or his wages - but simply that with a new kid he wants to live where he feels comfortable, and he's homesick for sunnier climes. Fair enough I say, whether Elche or Vicente stump up the cash to break the contract is irrelevant, just so long as we do get a fee. I really hope it doesn't get messy and end on bad terms (if he does leave), but that we get our money and he gets to return home, and we get the memory of having him in our team. The people telling him to f*** off know NOTHING about the ins and outs of the negotiation. They've just believed as fact some very vague, sketchy reports in Spain that've been run through Google translate, and then filled in any blanks with some ridiculous assumptions. 2+2 = 5,347,034,003.

Chill guys far more important things happen in life if he signs great look foward to seeing him this season....if he doesn't well we move on to bigger and better things...tbh we won more games without him b4 slating me check the stats our results with him in the side were not that great....Yes tremendous talent legend in spain i doth my hat to his achievments but at the same time our club has been patient invested a hell of a lot in getting him and keeping him fit....i agree with the club activating the extra year if someone else wants him and he wants to go its fair that we get a fee as we a spent money on a broken down player who few teams wanted and have helped return him to something like his best.

Hasn't his wife just given birth to their second child? In which case a year ago they wouldn't have known about that.

He should have worn a condom then none of this would have happened

Vincent will be the star of the new Elche
says Sergio Pelegrin renewed for two seasons after seeing the club improved. His signing is "imminent" says the head of the sports commission.

Vicente Rodriguez said yes to his move to Elche CF, so it will be the star signing of the new project. Such is the confidence that is within the sports commission, when its director, Hita Toño Garcia said yesterday on Radio Elche that their recruitment is pending small fringe.

The player must solve his contract situation with the Brighton & Hove Albion in the Football League Championship, the English third division, coached by Gustavo Poyet. In principle contract ends, and the desire of the English was to present a better offer to renew for two seasons, but he merely seductive power of Escribá be with Fran.

According Toño Garcia Hita, in the case of Vincent's financial offer is high because "the desire to be with the coach, the project of Elche and know the city" are more than attractive enough to opt to play in the second division.

"Right now to close his move are small fringe" so we can formalize the operation. And the arrival of a player who has been capped by Spain, which could be in the final stretch of his career in his 31 years of age, is an important commitment you want to make the club face to make the best staff possible.

Moreover, Toño Garcia is convinced that if Vicente "yields to 70%" will be a player to score differences and "whatever is beyond this figure will be much better for us."

Football League Championship, the English third division? Really? I don't believe a word that is in that article.

Funny how he wanted to play for us all the time he couldn't and now he can he doesn't want to.....In my book that makes him just another football mercenary.

Not a single thought about his family, particularly his newborn child. All your speculation is just total shit! you dont know a single thing about whats going on, do you????? And NO wouldn be your answer.

Why dont you just state facts instead of pretending you know whats going on.

I completely disagree. You are reading into what his agent has said, and also buying what the Spanish press are saying.
If anything he is coming across as someone who (with the help of others) has found a new lease of life and wants to enjoy the remainder of his playing career while also prioritising his family.

He has every right to want the best for him and his family, if he thinks that the best option is Spain then fine. He owes the club nothing.

All going well until you said... he owes the club NOTHING... you musty be fcuking joking... he wouldn't have a career without us/ Herr Doctor... to remind you... HE SIGNED A CONTRACT WHERE THE CLUB HAD AN OPTION TO EXTEND HIS STAY TO 2 YEARS... that's 2 YEARS... no way should he walk for NOTHING...

He would be earning a lot less at Elche than he is on here so I there's no way this is about money.

It is about money to us if he choses to leave...

But how do you know the terms of his contract last year. Was he on pay as you play, possibly.
If he was, this year he would want a contract that paid him weekly, cos his fitness at the end of last season was proven, so is he not entitled to negotiate a better weekly deal, seeing as he is by a long street the best player in the Champioship, and as Gus said, and the fans proved with their aduration.
Not one person on this board knows the real reason why ehasnt signed yet.
Is all this Spanish 2nd div club talk just spin and paper talk, would you believe a journalist 100%, I wouldnt. Again nobody on this board knows

I would say stop slagging him off until we know for sure.
You ended up with egg on your face with your comments about him last season, something to do with nailing your bollox to a board or something, you dont want to eat humble pie again do you?

He was NOT on pay as you play...

Hang on a sec.... We knew he was injury prone before we got him, therfore any medical issues that go with that are down to the club not the player. We took the chance on him and we paid the docs to get him sorted. end of!! we knew the risks and as far as i am aware he owes us NOTHING. Dont pretend this isnt true either.

Absolutely agree. I feel honoured that I was able to see him in an Albion shirt. Had to wait a while but it was worth it. I suggest that half the people on here slagging him off are young kids or sad old gits that have never had a family. Of course he is going to make decisions based on what is best for him and his family, like anyone would. If he comes back great, but I for one wont blame him for putting his family first. It was never about the money or he would not have come here in the first place. Lets just see what happens and if he does'nt come back remember the time he played for us.If he comes back, all those slagging him off now and not knowing the factual situation, will then think he is the best thing since sliced bread. Seriously some people need to grow up.

Happy to see him go, provided we receive the fee we are after from a Spanish club and/or Vicente buys himself out of the contract HE signed...

BTW... your sweeping genaralisations of the anti-Vicente brigade makes YOU look foolish IMHO... unless you know every one of them in person of course?

So you work at the Amex?
So you are Vicentes agent/tax advisor?
So you are Tony Blooms PA?

Amazes me how there are so many people on this board that are in the know.

He did have other offers.

His life circumstances have changed since he signed the contract, why shouldn't he review what he wants to do?

As for the he "owes". No he doesn't. We took a risk, he also took a risk. Moving to another country is a big deal, especially if you've always lived in the same area and your friends and family are there.

Do you support the Albion, or are you Vicente's agent? You seem to be incredibly bias towards the player, to the point where you are spouting b0llocks...
