Anyone else going to this?

Not a bad little line-up.. Young Knives, Fratellis, The Rifles, The Futureheads, The Go! Team, The Whip, Glasvegas, The Subways, Mystery Jets, Example.

Just wondering.. how quickly do the venues fill up? Would you advise getting there well in advance?

I'll be going. The rule of thumb is that if you are seeing a big name band you may well have to spend the evening in that venue, get there relatively early and you should be ok.

For the rest though it's just fun to bounce around the different venues. The most annoying thing for me is the King Blues/Ben Ottewell/Iron and Wine clash at 10pm tomorrow, possibly the three headliners I really wanted to see all on at the same time!

I'd also recommend signing up to the text message service, it's pretty good at letting you know what's full and what's not. I went last year and it was pretty good, you should get to see four or five bands a night, not bad for £45quid. The most trouble I had getting into a show was Archie Bronson at the Pavilion Theatre and British Sea Power at the Udderbelly, but a little bit queuing got me in.

Did you get in at British sea power last year?

I had Guest tickets last year, so didnt have to cue at all, but the year before it was pretty easy to get into most venues had a problem with the beach club as they treated it like a club and made everyone cue outside until a set had finished which was bloody annoying. but everywere else was fine!

Yes I did, the whole thing ran over horrendously so I actually got to see half an hour of MAPS before them. It was an excellent gig with one of the most riotous Rock In A finales I've seen, blood everywhere, terrific stuff.

Oh another thing! As I left it so late I have to collect my TICKET at the box office. Anyone know where it is? Do I just go to the Queens Hotel as if I were collecting a wristband?

Yes, yes it was haha i remember standing clear on the raised levels just above with my gf at the time, i just remember the stewards trying to calm everyone down was just a very lame attempt, was a great set though, i remember when 'please stand up' came on the place went mental! the underbelly was my favorite venue last year by a mile!

I saw CSS last year at the Concorde as I didn't managed to blag my way into the Happy Mondays. Concorde was full before I got there which was just before eight (Was great fun walking past the queue in my suit getting boo'ed by all the indie kids as I had my name ticked off the guest list - some bloke even thought I was a record company exec....wish I was a better liar!).

That said though they did open the doors and let everyone in at about 9. Not sure if any other venue will do that, some of the smaller ones might though.

That's interesting to know, may try and crash The Subways on saturday night if they do that.

I saw Example supporting The Rifles a while ago at Astoria and he got ruined by the crowd, absolutely slaughtered.

I'm gonna catch Young Knives, Rifles. Not sure about Saturday tho, anyone got any suggestions? Was thinking about Cut off Your Hands at the barfly....

I saw Example in Southampton and he was quality. Real good live performance.

I'm going with 3 friends. We went last year and it was great. We had to plan and be prepared to queue to see the bands we wanted to see but we had a great time. This year we bought 'early-bird' delegate tickets for 99 quid. These give us priority at all venues. We enjoyed last year so much we thought this was a worthy investment....so hopefully no planning and miniscule queuing.

Also, when everything is full just bounce around the lesser filled venues. We did this a few times and it was good fun seeing different venues and bands we had never heard off.

The text service is a must as they run a comprehensive service detailing which venues are full and empty. Saves wasted trips.

doesnt the texts let you no about any "suprise acts" as well?
