Football Governance Bill in its second reading in the HoCommons this week after its passage through the HoLords.

There are expected to be further amendments including debate on clause that seeks to prevent larger clubs cashing in on their global appeal by scheduling overseas EPL fixtures:

Excellent article here if anyone wants a gander.

Potential funding from EPL matches played abroad has been a bone of contention with rich owners having a long history of trying to ‘break the system’ by proposing additional Premier League matches played abroad be added to the existing League season - a proposal that FIFA, fans and smaller Clubs alike opposed:

He’s very impressive, knows how to deal with warring parties and it won’t mean that IFR will need to work from premises with an underground car park.

Excellent demonstration of Kogan’s credentials and his views on the need for a IFR in his interview in a pre-appointment Committee hearing held this week.

Also very interesting and in depth discussion of the football industry of a whole (vis a vis the 5 tiers ) eg. parachute payments, PSR, the pyramid and importance of fan engagement.

His comments and the Committee’s questions on Clubs appointing fans onto boards (which starts towards the end of the interview at 1hr 35’ into the stream) is particularly pertinent at the moment with the FAB elections.

Still talking to myself here in shadowland …

Following the Pre-Appointment Hearing (see above), the Chair of the Culture, Media & Sports Committee have endorsed David Kogan as the newly created Independent Football Regulator.

Kogan disclosed in the Hearing that he had previously donated to the Labour Party so there was some concern about his impartiality and has laid out further details of that for the Commitee.

His background and what he brings to the table
