Yeah but the threat of nuclear was was severley diminished by the time we were shown it. Relevent when it was made sure.

Shows what a powerful drama it was, the fact theat we are still talking about it 20 years after it was made. It was actually one of the series in BBC's 'Play for Today'. A lot of talk about it at the time. I remember seeing it, and I was scared for a long time afterwards.

When it came out, it was slap bang in the middle of the Cold War, when Ronnie and Maggie were keen to nuke Moscow just because the were 'commies'. At the time, we geniunely thought that those two nutters really would start something.

My mate had a poster at the time of Ronnie and Maggie snogging with an atomic bomb going off behind them. The caption read "She promised to follow him to the ends of the earth. He promised to organise it..."

Aren't they dead yet?

Yes but by showing everyone a film like that teaches that cold war or not, a nuclear war is something that must never be allowed to happen because it would be the end of us all, kids growing up now, post cold war, wouldnt have a clue of the consequences of a nuclear conflict.

Thats why they show them the film!!!

the one at school that freaked me out was about kids dying whilst playing aroung on a farm, one drowned in shit, one drank pesticide one fell off a hay bail, one got crushed by a tractor

and every time one died there was a shot of the teacher emptying their desk and taking an animal sticker off of their coat peg

anyone else remember it?

it was pre political correctness and called 10 little indians

I remember that. Made in about 1978. Only saw it once. I think they showed it at about lunchtime as some filler one day when I was off school. Basically scared the shit of me ever visiting a farm. Even had to think twice about going for a walk through Stanmer village.

He also wrote 'Fungus the Bogeyman'. Now that IS scary. [/B]

Fungus the bogeyman is being made into a TV film by the BBC - with Martin Clunes providing the voice (or perhaps narrating - not sure)

I'm looking forward to it.
