Yeah we were shown that at scholl as well, not sure why. Cold war type nuclear stuff. Only the town hall seems to survive (no more crucible theatre  ). Rememeber it was a bit scary at the time but would probably seems cack now. I think we watched it just before reading a book about a similar sort of thing. Kind of odd when you consider the cold war was pretty much over.

It was bad.

Sort of sums up the 80s.

The same teacher which scarred Safeway and his cohort did the same to me and my class a couple of years later.

It was a bit odd seeing as any threat of nuclear war was over, it was almost like the teacher was saying "watch this - this'll scare the shit out of ya!"

what really screwed me up though, and looking back i cannot believe this was in the curriculum, was the kids that went on the railway lines, and in tunnels and all came out with legs, arms etc missing.

Anyone else see that?

Just looked into it and it was made in 1976 (before I was born) so was it really relevent to my english leason when I was 14. History maybe, but we were shown it in an English class.

I also remember some woman peeing herself as the bomb goes off, although having gone to uni in Sheffield I can say thats fairly normal behaviour uyp there.

Ahh yes the film about the young lad that loved playing football only to have his leg removed by a speeding train. The poigniant (sp) shot at the end of the now unused football boots still haunts me to this day.

:salute: :lolol:

I also thought the cartoon..When The Wind Blows made by the same bloke as the Snowman ( Blake?) was absolutely superb.

Raymond Briggs. Did the snowman, Father Christmas, Gentleman Jim and a few others. Ditchling boy I think.

Raymond Briggs. He also wrote 'Fungus the Bogeyman'. Now that IS scary.

I think you missed the point, it was shown to you to educate you as to the horrors of a nuclear war, up to that film most people still didnt realise just how f***ing bad they were and how they would f*** up civilisation for ever.
