First post so I'd though I'd make it interesting, I'm pissed off with Reading making out how 'big' they are so i've just calculated Albions and Readings average league attendances over 56 years and it reads like this:-

www.european-football-statistics.co.uk/ englandcontent.html

Brighton And Hove Albion (in the trendiest town in England)
Average league gate 12,712 (56 years)
Beat average 1978-79 season 25,264
League champions
1958 div3 south
1965 div4
2001 div3
2002 div2
FA Cup runners up 1983
4 years in top flight 1979-1983
Quater finalists 1986

Reading FC (in a car park on the 'Thames corridor')
Average league gate 8,849 (56 years)
Best average 2002-03 season 16,011
League champions
1979 div4
1986 div3
1992 div2
FMC Cup Winners 1989
Never played in top flight

If I'm wrong then call me a wank*r but I'm very bored at work today and Reading FC are winding me up

Already done this one. Yawn.

Our history is best in the 1920s. Yours covers 56 years. If you want 25,000+ average gates then do your research further back.

You can dress it up in any hifilutin but it won't disguise the truth

We've never claimed to be "big", that's the irony of it all!

Let's just face it - we are pretty much the same in the overall scheme of things.

Hear hear.

By the way, with the research done as done above, Preston and Blackpool are twice the size of Reading and Brighton.

I'm not surprised my old man was telling me last weekend before the Blackpool game that he went to Blackpool V Brighton sometime in the 50's and the crowd was over 35,000 !
How things have changed for Blackpool and Preston to a lesser degree.

That would be when our head to heads read like this, would it?

Reading 1
Brighton 4
Draws 7

Y'know what I mean ;)

25,000+ crowds, England internationals, beating AC Milan etc.

Lets face it though Wilts the 1920's was a f*ck of a long time ago and the only players then were the 'local postman', 'milky' and your favourite butcher. Even with a nice stadium you can't fill it, nothing against you personally but Reading FC have been one of the dullest clubs in England for quite some time. You've just a meglomaniac of chairman who's hell bent on Premiershite football with plastic fans and a future manager who's got VD.

The 1970s was also a f*cking long time ago if you hadn't noticed!

Or are you plainly using stats that only express your point of view? I can do that too.

Stat: We are officially the best supported club in the whole of the UK, an the entire history of English football.

Reason: We took 60,000+ fans to Wembley, which no other club has done.

Actual stat: Its true, but it doesn't mean jack shit.

Strange how people's butchers and milkmen made the full England squad?

I have no cause to believe that you will fill your Falmer stadium until you reach the Premiership. Sorry but its very, very likely.

I know you appear a little bitter, but Coppell hasn't gone yet and it isn't exactly 100% likely to happen! Don't worry!

Stats dress up any point to make it biased, and I understand that's what you're doing. Just don't accuse us of thinking that we're a big club. Nobody on the Reading side denies that we're not, so there isn't a point here! :)

You took 60,000 because there's bugger all else to do around Reading and it was a nice day out with the kids. I bet a least 3 quarters of them never go near the Madjeski now. I'm sick and tired of your poxy chairman sniffing around the my club thats all.

That's more like it... and more the truth. I'm not too happy with our dealings on this either, I'm more towards your side on that respect.

However, the "bugger all else to do" thing is a bit off. There's more to do in Reading and its conurbation than most places in the entire UK!
