We have a works syndicate, a few dropped out when it went up to £2.
Last nights payout could be the last straw as a number of colleagues are wanting us to do the Health Lottery instead.

Big,big mistake when they put it up to £2.
If they reduced it to a £1 more people would play, simple.

No shit Sherlock!!

So what is your point about Branson then? The lottery, assuming the same prize structure, would generate more for charity as the profit element is taken out. Why does it bother you whether he uses it to market other Branson services, that is assuming under the terms of the licence he would be able to do that. At the moment, all the profit goes to supporting Canadian teachers!!

If you got 4 numbers, you must have got 3. In these cases they should pool the prize money and divide by the number of winners, and everybody would still get rugger all.

Bring back window tax and stop this lottery mania.

But you blindly assume that the only difference between the bids was that one had profit and the other didn't have profit and therefore the no profit one was better. If Camelot made 100m and took 3% for themselves that would still be better if Branson made £95m. That's clearly what the Government thought. Including their profit they run the most efficient lottery in Europe.

Dont know if it is true but I once read that if you are over 60 years old you stand more hance of dieing before the lottery draw than winning it. Mind I still do I line Wednesday and Saturday as it is still cheaper than a pint or pie at The Amex.
