Now then who likes Gram Parsons?

I used to hate Gram Parsons but that was blind prejudice. I hadn't really heard him and just had labelled him as another of Eagles school and thought that he was another wannabe.

I have a bit more respect for him now but he's never been a fave of mine.

Now, what about Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys? That's real music.

Good taste (although I never really GOT Bruntnell - Normal For Bridgewater was ok I guess, and he had some teenage guitarist who was spectacular when I PB live).
Wilco, Uncle Tupelo, Damien Jurado, Josh Rouse, Willard Grant Experience, Golden Smog, Handsome Family, Grand Drive to name a few others in a similar vein.

I've been playing gram parsons all morning, how weird. I really like the eagles too, I know they are extremely unfashionable but some of the songs are pure quality and hotel california is a bona fide classic.

For anyone who wants something a bit more local in the same vein, can I recommend Lucky Jim an alt country band from brighton, their album is absolutely brilliant, and i'm looking forward to seeing them at the beautiful days fest in august.
