The band you fools

Great band or glorified country and western hippies?

Best selling Album of all time as well - The best of the Eagles

Untouchable imo but not well liked by the youngsters I feel.

I wouldn't say the youngster's don't like it.

Im a fan, I have the greatest hits album.
Of course hotel california is superb (if you play guitar its a must know!) but Lyin eyes, new kid in town, etc are quality tracks. On my playlist anyday.

Living In a Box
On a dark desert highway
Cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas
Rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance
I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy, and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself
This could be Heaven or this could be Hell
Then she lit up a candle
And she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor
I thought I heard them say

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely place (background)
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year
Any time of year (background)
You can find it here
You can find it here

Her mind is Tiffany twisted
She's got the Mercedes bends
She's got a lot of pretty, pretty boys
That she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard
Sweet summer sweat
Some dance to remember
Some dance to forget

Middle of the road garbage played by middle-aged musicians who'd stuffed too much coke up their noses.

A pale imitation of country music made by people for whom anywhere outside Beverly Hills would be the Wild West.

The acme of blandness - one of my pet musical hates of all time.

AND the worst name of all time.

I thought this thread, veiled as a potential Palace thread, was actually going to be about the Eastbourne Eagles beating the league leaders Poole Pirates last night (today's Arsegas, p.58), instead it's about the biggest one hit wonder band of all time outside of The Animals and 'House of the Rising Sun'

I can't disagree more.

The Eagles was my antidote to some of the trash delivered up on The Lamb Lies Down Album by Genesis, and I got into their music

I have all their albums on Vynal or CD and think that Desperado was the best, followed by One of These Nights and then Hotel California ( the long Run was ok ish) On the Border has some very "country" tracks

As I said on another thread, saturday Night and 21 are two rocktastic tracks on Desperado. Hotel california live on Hell Freezes Over is sublime.

Dave , if you haven't already, buy the Don Henley "Live Inside Job" DVD for an alternative but equally sublime version of Hotel California. The guitar solos are done by the brass section

This is my all time favourite music DVD

I did indeed but don't remember seeing a support band. The random blowing of whistles by what seemed like most of the crowd came close to ruining an excellent evening!
