Give the lad a chance. This is his first full season in the first team squad. All defenders make mistakes, even the very best, and the first two seasons are a steep learning curve. In fact, the footballer who hasn't made a mistake hasn't been born yet, and his mother is dead.
Dan will continue to make mistakes, just like all of the great defenders who have gone before him. When a team is not scoring goals defenders mistakes prove more costly and are more noticeable. As he gets more and more games under his belt, his confidence will grow and he will have better and better games.
Brighton fans should be rejoicing in the fact they have such a young outstanding talent in their midst. Of all of the individuals in the exciting crop of novices produced by Deano over the past few years, Tickle has stood out as the best.
Whether he signs the contract being offered to him or not, he is destined for greater things. Brighton fans will be basking in reflected glory in the years ahead, when they boast to their grandchildren that they saw the early days of his career.
